Topic #246: How old are you?
By Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick)

#1: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 22, 2010

Maybe I'm too curious, but often I ask myself: How old is the creator when I'm solving a puzzle.

I'm 49!
#2: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 22, 2010
Ladies, I dont wanna harm you. Sorry!
#3: Jan Wolter (jan) on Oct 22, 2010
Let's see...it's 2010 so I must be, um, 51 years old. Darn, that's old!
#4: Sylvain "WCPman" (qwerty) on Oct 22, 2010
yeah Jan you're both old man..... jk
#5: Liz P (Lizteach) on Oct 22, 2010
That's really funny. I don't think I've *ever* asked myself that while solving a puzzle.

I'm 43. I'm very happy being this age, but I liked last year, when I was 42, better--I could claim to be the answer to life, the universe, and everything! (Douglas Adams fans will get me.)
#6: Teresa K (fasstar) on Oct 22, 2010
I am exactly 63.97. Now the question is, will you still love me when I'm 64? :-)

#7: Liz P (Lizteach) on Oct 22, 2010
Perfect for the WCP topic, Teresa!

My mom is a youthful 64, and we sang that song to her on her last birthday.
#8: Gator (Gator) on Oct 22, 2010
T - November 2nd the big day then?

35 here.
#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Oct 22, 2010
Yep! Gator, you're the same age as my oldest child. Acckkk. I'm old in years, but I still feel young inside.
#10: Byrdie (byrdie) on Oct 22, 2010
Jan and I are the same age and, if I remember correctly, within a few days or weeks of each other.
#11: Merili (merilinnuke) on Oct 23, 2010
I have been 26 for almost 2 months now. But I feel older inside :)
#12: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 23, 2010
Teresa, in Germany there is a song: Mit 70 hat man noch Träume. With 70 you still have dreams.
#13: Liz P (Lizteach) on Oct 23, 2010
Gotta love a website that attracts the kind of people who would not only figure out their age in decimal form, but who would treat the math as a puzzle to be solved! ~looking at Teresa and Gator~
#14: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Oct 24, 2010
haha at comment 13
#15: Sallie Wilbur (sarriemom) on Oct 26, 2010
I'm 3x11.
#16: Liz P (lizteach) on Oct 26, 2010
And I will be 11x4 on my next birthday.
#17: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 26, 2010
As I will, Liz, but in prime factors that's 11x2x2.
#18: Gator (Gator) on Oct 27, 2010
Or even more irrationally, she will be e^x where x ~ 3.7841896. :)
#19: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 27, 2010
never thought this will be a topic like this.
#20: Gator (Gator) on Oct 27, 2010
Sorry Kai...we will try to behave.
#21: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 27, 2010
It's unreal. Or it would be if I identified my age as -(¬/43 · i)^2.

(Sorry, Gator.)
#22: Gator (Gator) on Oct 27, 2010
Joe - ROFL

Sorry Kai, but with this many geeks in one place, it is inevitable.
#23: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 27, 2010
Okay, I'll accept this.
#24: Liz P (lizteach) on Oct 27, 2010
Joe made me actually LOL. Love the geek humor. :D
#25: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Oct 28, 2010
On November 17, my daughter's 24th birthday, I will be twice her age!
#26: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 28, 2010
that is easy enough for me ;-)
#27: Francie (eicnarf) on Oct 28, 2010
As my 91 year old neighbor is fond of pointing out, I'm less than half her age. This is the last year that will be a true statement.
#28: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 28, 2010
so you're four years younger than me!
#29: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 28, 2010
Kai=Francie+Babarann-Liz P
#30: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 28, 2010
a nice imagination :-)
#31: Francie (eicnarf) on Oct 28, 2010
It's nice to know we can make a puzzle out of anything.
#32: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Oct 28, 2010
As Professor Layton would say, "Few things satisfy like a puzzle solved."

One of them, though, is making a good puzzle.
#33: Wombat (wombatilim) on Oct 28, 2010
In about 10 months, I'll be as old as an LP is fast.
#34: ant (agrest272) on Nov 17, 2010
I'm 4!

And no I'm not excited about my age.. that's a factorial symbol haha
#35: Jota (jota) on Nov 27, 2010
This year I celebrated my 35th ...
PS: I haven't celebrated every b-day.
#36: Kadou (Kadou) on Nov 30, 2010
To get my age, substract 1 from: 3 x the number you get by inversing the digits in my age.
#37: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Nov 30, 2010
41
#38: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Dec 1, 2010
I will be able to get 10% off at Walmart on Tuesdays next year!
#39: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Dec 2, 2010
we have no Walmart! I need another hint, Susan!
#40: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 2, 2010
Our Walmart does not offer an age-related discount. A google search only found a report that says Walmart doesn't offer a senior discount because their prices are already discounted for everyone and they don't need to offer anything more than that.

I just found out yesterday that I qualify for the senior disocount at the grocery store. But they only offer that on the first Wednesday of every month. How crazy is that!
#41: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Dec 3, 2010
You are absolutely right Teresa - our Walmart doesn't offer a discount either. Their competition, where I usually shop, does however give 10% to anyone 55 or over on the first Tuesday of each month. We call it Senior's day and usually stay away that day! Now I am going to be one of them
#42: Joel Lynn (furface1) on Dec 28, 2010
It's late and I don't feel all that clever at the moment. I'm 56 and that's good because I got to retire last year.
#43: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Jan 9, 2011
i turned 49 on 10/10/10
#44: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 9, 2011
Very cool birthday. Happy Birthday, three months late. I guess that makes it Happy Conception Day. Hehe.
#45: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Jan 9, 2011
haha fasstar
#46: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jan 9, 2011
This September I'll celebrate the forth anniversary of my 49th birthday.
#47: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Feb 18, 2011
I will be 36 on 2/25/11. I'm excited to be joining the Women Over 35 demographic!
#48: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Mar 12, 2011
i'll be half a century old this year...
#49: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Mar 13, 2011
If you go by the date on my birth certificate, I'm 52. But it's a fake (I'm adopted so my real one is sealed)but it's probably accurate. If you go by how I act, I'm between my 3 year old grandaughter and my 10 year old grandson. (closer to the 3 year old)
#50: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Mar 13, 2011
gorgeous, Sarah!
#51: Judy Baumann (judybee) on Apr 23, 2011
I compute my age using hexadecimal. So I'm "43"
#52: bexie (becinaus) on Jun 28, 2011
What an interesting forum... Im 25 but feel way older and look heaps younger (someone asked me if I was 16 today)
#53: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jun 28, 2011
I'm 36, and I still have that problem! I was carded when I went to a casino last March.
#54: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jun 28, 2011
People have thought I'm 35 from the time I was 17 to a couple years ago (the last time it came up). It probably is not going to be so much longer, though, as my beard is starting to get a few white hairs in it.
#55: Maggie Johns (Magginni) on Aug 27, 2011
You probably know that my real name is Maggie. Then my oldest brother started calling me Magginni. after that, Hannah shortened the version of Magginni to just Gini (it almost seems like those names are my real names). :)
#56: Lilly Johns (LJohns315) on Aug 27, 2011
Maggie meant to put that in the nicknames topic.
#57: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 22, 2012
i feel SOOOO old...a couple of days ago i turned 19 million minutes.
#58: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 22, 2012
36?
#59: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 22, 2012
that happened weeks ago teresa ;)
#60: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jul 27, 2012
wow...cool to learn about the others here! I'll have to read more forum topics, I think.....

as for me, I think I'm about exactly a year older than you, Mr Bouldin, and the same age as Kristen. Turned 37 on July 8th...
#61: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 28, 2012
Class of '93, woo! ;)
#62: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jul 28, 2012
yep yep!
#63: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 31, 2012
some of my best friends are class of '93 :)
#64: Gator (gator) on Jul 31, 2012
Seems to be quite a few of us class of '93ers around here.
#65: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Aug 2, 2012
as a '94er, i won't hold that against you gator :)
#66: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 2, 2012
If I said you had a beautiful body...never mind.
#67: Susan (Susan) on Jul 22, 2017
I might be the oldest on here? 67
#68: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jul 22, 2017
You're just a baby. :)
#69: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 22, 2017
Ah, Susan. I'm older than you, but just by a little bit.

You'd be surprised at how many of us there are here.

Anyone else willing to admit they are 65+?
#70: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jul 22, 2017
Judging from some of the comments about grandchildren and being around when certain events occurred or remembered actually using items that are now considered old fashioned, I would say there are quite a few of us "old timers". :)
#71: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jul 22, 2017
I can think of some interesting ways to reveal my age. In binary code, I'm 11010. I could also say I am 8.28 x pi, rounded up. (Only dealing with whole number answers.) I have as many years as half of a standard deck of cards not including the jokers. - I'd like to think I've got heart in spades, though, heh heh heh. If you subtract 45 from the number comment that this one is, you get the right answer. I suppose I could also say my age is equal to the number of letters in the alphabet. And I could be straightforward and say I'm 26, but that's boring. ^-^ :P
#72: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 25, 2017
i get the same answer to all of those except one :)

#73: Gator (gator) on Jul 25, 2017
David - same :) One of these is not like the other.
#74: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 26, 2017
Is it the one involving pi? Did you go out more digits, and get a greater number?
#75: Gator (gator) on Jul 26, 2017
Yes. 3.14 x 8.28 rounded up is 26.
3.14159265... x 8.28 rounded up is 27.
If one said "rounded to the nearest integer", then either one would be 26.
#76: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 26, 2017
yep...it only works if you round pi to 3.1 or 3.14, but not 3 or anything longer than 3.14 :P
#77: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jul 26, 2017
I don't think it works for 22/7 either.
#78: Aurelian Ginkgo (AurelianGinkgo) on Jul 26, 2017
To clarify, I entirely intended pi to only be considered to 3.14. I know the number goes on forever, but common knowledge about pi usually goes no further than 3.14. Sorry for this oversight.
#79: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Jul 26, 2017
Kris, dennis/dave and I are all about the same :) agewise, that is

#80: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 27, 2017
;) @ AG
#81: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jul 27, 2017
I am currently the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. :)
#82: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 28, 2017
Ah, Kristen, that's a great age to be. :-)
#83: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Jul 29, 2017
Not drawing old age pension yet but getting closer each year
#84: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jun 9, 2018
Kristen, I just caught up to you less than a week ago! Now we're the same age...unless you went all "moving target" on me?
#85: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jun 10, 2018
Yay 43!
#86: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jun 11, 2018
at this rate i might NEVER catch up! :(
#87: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jun 11, 2018
:D
#88: Koreen (mom24plus) on Jun 11, 2018
I'm just not feeling very geeky, right now. I'll just state that if you take away 46% of a century, you'll have my age...or I'm .54 of a century...or...
#89: Koreen (mom24plus) on Jun 11, 2018
#54 Joe, if you happen to read this, people thought I was 26 from the time I was about 15, then when I WAS 26, I was often mistaken for a teenager. One time a parent thanked me for bringing my 12 year old to an after-game team party - thinking I was his big sister! Once I was at the store with my three kids and was asked if I was sorry summer was over and I had to go back to school, lol. Nowadays, well, I guess most often look 30-ish. The aches and pains tell a different story.
#90: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jun 12, 2018
Koreen, how about "Arwen portrayer in a Roman age"?
In the past seven years I have definitely stopped looking like 35. Nor do I look like a teenager.
#91: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jun 12, 2018
