Nice!

Cute! I tend to use a combo of logic and guesswork which always works well on smaller puzzle. :-)

no guessing
simple smile or edge logic at the top at the end

thanks everyone. no problem tom. i realized that i had been doing mostly large ones and so i thought i'd throw in a small one among the big ones.

i did just realize that the title could be taken a couple of ways. it could read that it is both symmetrical AND not so friendly. intended was that she'd be symmetrical if it wasn't for the fact that she was so friendly.

I did wonder why an unfriendly penguin would be waving hello...

The puzzle did get an "aww" out of me, once I read your description and saw what it was. Very cute.

Really cute, and a fun solve too.

I used two-way logic on the 1s in row 4 to locate the range of the 2s in r3. This made r3c5&11 white. After line logic, you then can finish with either smile logic, or a second application of two-way logic on those same two 1s.

Solving (mostly) from bottom to top and outside to inside, I briefly saw a snarling jack-o-lantern. Probably influenced by the title. Then when I finished it the pumpkin grew a beard. I didn't see the cute lil feller until I read the description.
Hello there!

he looks friendly to me?
#19: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Apr 2, 2019 [SPOILER]
If he were not so friendly, he'd be symmetrical.
#20: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Apr 2, 2019 [SPOILER]
The waving flipper breaks the symmetry, in other words. :)
