who the heck is tom waits?
#3: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jul 24, 2010 [SPOILER]
thanks susan.

kyle, my description would vary depending on your age. for instance, I might say "he wrote Springsteen's Jersey Girl and Rod Stewart's Downtown Train" but if that doesn't mean anything I might say "he was in Dracula and sang the song you heard as they walked into the bar in Fight Club"

Here's more than probably wanted to know:

Love him, and the image is fantastic. I have "Nighthawks at the Diner" on my iPod.

it doesnt mean as much until you see what a great resemblance this puzzle is to the real picture so i had to post this:

Amazing! Thanks David!

From the title I immediately thought of him, but wondered if maybe there was some other meaning. One of the most varied and prolific musical artists; my oldest son introduced me to Tom Waits many years ago. Thank you for doing him; he kind of resists easy definition of his music, no?

P.S. David, don't forget his funny character in "Mystery Men"!

Sorry, Tom, I mean Tom Waits this time...

Re #8: Say it with me... "Heller."

Plus, Tom occasionally does a spot-on Cookie Monster impersonation.

And in Loreena McKennitt's liner notes, she admits that she wanted to sing Greensleeves as she imagined Tom Waits would sing it:
