Then what CAN I hit it with??? A rock? An arrow? A bullet?

LOL

Found to require some guessing by Gator.
#3: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Sep 29, 2009
Found to be logically solvable by Gator.
#4: Gator (Gator) on Sep 29, 2009 [HINT]
This one can be solved by using a contradiction on row 6. If you try to place the 6 clue as far as you can to the left, this will cause the 11 and 9 clues in columns 7 and 8 to both cross row 8 which only has 1 clues. So from this you can dot out columns 4 - 7 in row 6.

Gator, thanks for the help. I was stuck, and wondered if I could work with the 1-1-1 in R8, but couldn't figure it out until I read your hint.

Blue Paint, this is a nice image. I'm wondering if you solve your puzzles before you publish them so you know how hard they are or if they require guessing.
#6: Gator (Gator) on Sep 29, 2009
I was stuck too and thought for sure guessing would be required (marked it as such), but two minutes later I noticed how to move forward.

I do solve them before I publish them, so I realize how hard this was! Sorry about that. I didn't specifically engineer it to be that hard. I'm new at the whole making puzzles thing, and I'm not too good at the fine tuning yet. I did solve it first to make sure it was possible though :)

Easy puzzles are boring. Don't dumb them down please.
#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Sep 29, 2009
Yes, a lot of us like the challenging puzzles. You have lots of potential - good use of white space, clever titles. The fine tuning will come with time. I especially like the B/W format, and the size is good. I look forward to more like this.

I like easy and hard puzzles... for different reasons and depending on how much time I have.
this one was a great, fun challenge.
thanks for the B/W one.

It's cute. This one looks like it already had an encounter with a car ;<)
#12: Ellen Vollor (evollor) on Oct 4, 2009
Why Jota? Just because it's flat???
Living in Maine, I have seen first hand what damage a moose can do if you hit it. Knock on wood, I haven't hit one. I've come very close, though. Scary!!!
#13: Jota (jota) on Oct 4, 2009 [SPOILER]
Ellen: I think his eyes also look like those of a moose who's been too close to a car. I spend a lot of time in the White Mountains and I know you have to be VERY careful when driving, so I also knock on wood. Let's keep it safe, both of us.
#14: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Oct 8, 2009 [SPOILER]
Mousse has always been a big hit with me. Maybe that's what he encountered!

People persist in thinking that mousse is native to the Great North. It really lives in the dessert, you know.

LOL

Very cute! I love his cartoonish quality! Fun puzzle.
#17: Corey Beaudoin (red) on Jan 5, 2010 [SPOILER]
A moose is definitly a must avoid when driving. These things weigh so much that and are so big that they will crush the roof, not the hood, the roof of the car and can kill.

There are signs on I-95 in Maine that warn of Moose crossings.

Still think he's cute?

fun solve and nice image
#19: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Aug 10, 2011 [SPOILER]
I have the strangest urge to go hunt Moose and Squirrel. In a Russian accent.
#20: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Aug 25, 2016
A fun solve. Made me laugh.
#21: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Dec 11, 2019 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Well, the first part of the was kind of ... rocky. (Sorry about that.) But it's a good puzzle and didn't Boris! (Sorry, again.)

This was a really good challenge. It'd break my brain if they were all like this, but just seeing what people try when line logic doesn't work any more is interesting. It's tough to get intuition for that, but here I sort of see that with Gator's guess, there's some quasi-edge logic that forces a bunch of other squares to be filled in.
#22: Velma Warren (Shiro) on Jan 25, 2020
That was fun! I guessed what it was early on but still had to guess a couple of times. Great image.
#23: Ailsa Hebert (bazette3) on Jul 8, 2021
Awesome! So cute! Really enjoyed the solve. Thank you!
#24: Vaggelis Kamaris (evag7651) on Apr 26, 2022
