Goood!
#2: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 12, 2009 [HINT]
Amazing image. I gave it a 5 (as you can tell). Fun to solve. Edge logic on the 4s at the bottom helped solve it.
#3: Eludwar (elfluvsdwarf) on Jul 12, 2009
icky! Not as difficult as most of yours.
#4: Gator (Gator) on Jul 13, 2009 [HINT]
@Jota - Thanks.

@Adam - Thanks. The edge logic is not required, but it is pretty obvious to use in this case.

@elf - I made sure this one did not required advanced techniques. Hopefully, it's still more difficult than the average 15x15 though. :)

A wonderful puzzle. I gave it the same rating Adam did.
#6: Matt Coulter (mcoulter) on Jul 13, 2009
Excellent. This is one of the funnest puzzles I've solved on webpbn yet. Thanks!
#7: Byrdie (byrdie) on Jul 13, 2009 [HINT]
Wooo hoo! A puzzle of Gator's that I was able to solve straight through (on the second try) and without using edge logic.

Oh, excellent image, btw.

Everything I want in a small puzzle! A great image and a fun challenge to solve. Wait, did I say "fun"? I meant "annoying PITA." This puzzle kicked my butt and I had to restart TWICE. But it was annoying in a good way, plus in the end I did it w/o edge logic. Thanks! Rated 5 for quality. Can't get any better in a 15x15.
#9: Jane Doe (telly) on Jul 14, 2009
fun and great!
#10: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 14, 2009 [SPOILER]
Wow! That was fun. Great image, Gator.

I've seen quite a few of these here in Arizona - in my house. I even found one in my bed! Fortunately, the ones that are common here are not poisonous, but the sting is very painful.
#11: Gator (Gator) on Jul 14, 2009
"annoying PITA" - my favorite kind of puzzles. :)

Thanks all!

@Teresa - well, I must say, I'm glad I don't live in Arizona. How do you sleep at night?
#12: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 14, 2009 [SPOILER]
Gator, I have never been stung, and have not seen any in a long time, so I don't think about them much any more. Now I have a question for you: How long did it take you to creat this puzzle? And will you make us some more please? Oops, that was two questions. :-)

Well, if you want to do more Gator puzzles, you could check out http://wiipicross.com . I believe he has about 310 puzzles posted there, and I suspect that that is part of the reason that he prefers B&W puzzles no bigger than 20x20 - he can use those on both sites. (Which, if anyone is wondering, is 200% fine with me - the puzzles you post here belong to you, you can use them as you like and the more use you make of them, the better - I've even posted a couple of my puzzles there.)

However, I don't know of any way on that site to get a list of just Gator puzzles.

How long? About an hour I would say. This site enables me to quickly come up with a unique solution puzzle (so I'm not wasting time on multiple solution puzzles), but refining a puzzle to playable form takes a bit longer.

I plan on creating more. They will usually come in spurts as does my free time. :)

A lot of the puzzles I have posted here are either exact copies of ones I've done on wiipicross.com or they are tweaked a little bit. You can get to a list of puzzles by clicking on a member name almost anywhere on the site.

Note that 118 of those puzzles are for the periodic table of elements though (one for each element).

I'm almost ready to take the leap to larger than 20x20. I've solved a few here, but it seems like a huge time commitment to get large puzzles in solvable form.
#15: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 14, 2009
Actually, Gator, it doesn't take that long. I have created a lot of puzzles on here, most of them averaging 40 x 40 or so. After I had created a lot of puzzles, I realized that many of the first ones were not logically solvable (although they had unique solutions, and looked amazing). Once I had been on this site long enough to understand how puzzles work, what makes a good puzzle, and how to make them logically solvable, I have only posted logically solvable puzzles since. I just keep adding a few black pixels here and there until I get a logically solvable solution, and then keep taking away as many as possible (1 or 2 at a time) and checking solvability until it reverts back to not solvable. Then I add the last one or two pixels, and post it. I can usually do larger puzzles in an hour or so, occasionally longer.

Thanks, Jan. I visited that site last time you suggested it, and even created some puzzles.

Gator, I see you are rated #1 there for points. Yeah!!!

Ugh, that site is now http://www.heroglyphix.com/ and it's hard on the eyes!

Great image.
#18: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Mar 26, 2010
I also visited that site. I solved a few puzzles, but don't know how you get points. Are the puzzles there numbered? How do you see what puzzles you have solved? The site seemed very confusing. I couldn't figure out if there was a way to set each mouse button to a function, instead of having to double click in oder to mark a square as blank. It just doesn't compare to this site.

There is a page that lists puzzles that you have solved and puzzles you haven't. I tend to use the random puzzle thing a lot where I go there. The solving environment doesn't have the flexibility of controls that we have here, but the puzzles are small and monochrome, so who really needs them?

I know they are planning a major revision of the site soon.

I've never figured out whether it is OK to talk about competing sites in their forums, so though I have participated there some, I have never mentioned webpbn there, which feels kind of odd to me. But overall, I like that site a lot more than most of the other competing puzzle sites I've tried. I don't even know why exactly.
