Long ago, when my partner used to solve these puzzles in books, I often looked over her shoulder and said, "it looks like a helicopter."

This is because (1) at some point, most puzzles look like black blobs with black lines looking out, so they do sort of look like helicopters, and (2) it's rude to tell the person actually solving the puzzle what it really looks like before they've figured it out, don't you think?

So anyway, this puzzle looks like a helicopter in because so many other puzzles did.

LOL... certainly many looks like a helicopter, and I, like you do, see many other things in half-puzzled puzzles.
The other day, my sister said, that my "Rotary movement" at one time looks like a bench lathe.

She wasn`t surprised, thinking at the name of the puzzle, and the fact that I`m a trained machinist. ;-))

I gave this puzzle an excellent because it is so funny. You must make some serious scrambled eggs at your house. lol

I too was tickled by your title. Then your story was wonderful. My family is forever walking past me and identifying puzzles half way done. Very rude. Now I cover the screen. But back to the best part of your story, it's funny what a person consistently sees in an unfinished puzzle. Might make a good psychological study.
Thanks for your fun and funny puzzle Jan. ^v^

Fun!

This puzzle was marked as unsolved, but I remember solving this one a long time ago, before I created "Ode to a Pixel" where I made a reference to your comment. Hmmmm. I have noticed that a lot of puzzles that I solved around a year ago are showing up as "not yet solved" when I search for puzzles. Not all, but quite a few. I wonder why. Do you know, Jan? If you don't read this here, Jan, I'll post it on the forum.

No idea. I haven't seen that happening.

Fun solve and story.

My family always calls them hoptiplopters, because of my niece's mispronunciation when she was young. Of course, now she's perfectly capable of saying it correctly, but we don't seem to be able to any more!
