Puzzle Description:

Hockey is back. The NHL and the NHLPA came to an agreement for a new contract. It's a 10 year deal, which means we won't have to worry about a strike or a lock out for that long. Great news if your a hockey fan.

Is this a hockey skate? Not real sure. Didn't have a major hockey team here in AZ until about 10 years ago and not having snow and ice here in the winter I didn't become a fan.

Thanks for your entry Al and Congrats!
#3: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jan 7, 2013
Thx Jota, and thx for the runner-up. Oh and thx for using my challenge for the theme for #124.A lot of B&W's have been made for my challenge, can people use their old puzzles and just add WCP #124 to them?
#4: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jan 7, 2013
Yes it is a hockey skate Norma. I grew up with hockey and played a lot of it,so I'm a huge fan.:)
#5: karl (keicher) on Jan 7, 2013 [SPOILER]

thx for a great entry Al. great solve also.
yes you can add wcp to an existing puzzle
GO BLACKHAWKS
#9: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jan 8, 2013
karl,I made the puzzle making sure it was ll solvable, then added blots while still keeping it solvable,to make it a better challenge. If it shows as solvable by logic alone,I don't see how you can say it's not. Obviously Bug proved that it is,thx Bug. It looks like it ended up being an enjoyable solve for all you experienced solvers.:)

Go Phoenix,Chicago,St.Louis, and most of all Montreal.

Thx Tom buddy.:)
#11: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jan 9, 2013 [SPOILER]
i haven't really followed hockey since the last lockout and this one has just done me in. everyone on both sides are so spoiled. the "sport" part has been lost in my opinion...but if somebody has to win, i hope it's the Dallas Stars.

somewhere there is a comment that says people aren't supposed to rename existing puzzles to be wcp. i don't remember where that was. this makes sense for a number of reasons including (a) the actual purposes of the wcp were to promote the generation of NEW puzzles and help expose people to new creators, not regular creators' old puzzles and (b) part of the challenge is the time constraint within which to create them. if the rule is that you can just rename an existing puzzle that should be stated somewhere official.
#12: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 9, 2013
i did that David
#13: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jan 9, 2013
What David is saying makes sense,I haven't added the recent WCP#124 to any of my old puzzles,I was just wondering since there have been so many 20x20 B&W's lately. I'm sure people will come up with many more.
#14: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Jan 9, 2013
If you read the rules as stated in Honors that issue is not covered. But it, of course, could have been elsewhere. Perhaps Jota knows.
#15: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jan 10, 2013
you did that here in the comments of an individual puzzle, tom?

Sylvain's references to puzzles being new in Forum #112 alone are in Comments #1, 13, 19, 321, 392, 394, 518, etc. That's besides all the references to puzzles being made/created/posted, rather than found/renamed/re-purposed and ignoring the comments that say puzzles will be judged on originality. Joe outright asked the question in #473, but there is no response. It seems like the discussion I am remembering where it was "decided" that old puzzles shouldn't be entered was also in the comments of an individual puzzle, but I can't find it. Looks like I should take my own advice in comment #664 (Forum #112 again).

I'll stop now, mostly because none of this has any bearing on me anymore. i just wanted to make sure as much about the WCP is legitimate and clear for the people who can still enjoy it.
#16: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 10, 2013
I've seen a lot of puzzles that were made during the time frame of a contest, that also fit the theme and parameters of the contest, and creators were encouraged to change the title and make it an entry. The caveat here, I think, was that it was created during the two-week period of the contest, rather than renaming a puzzle that had been made a month (or more) prior.
#17: Jota (jota) on Jan 10, 2013
Right! Kristen!
#18: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2013
thx K...sorry David you are soooo sad and stopped enjoying the WCP with us; perhaps you'll reconsider someday :)
#19: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Jan 11, 2013
agree with kristen also. i might tom. luckily i'm not sad for myself.
#20: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Jan 13, 2013
The sad thing is that a lot of us aren't seeing as many great puzzles from the likes of you David, and Kristen,Teresa, Sensei, and probably many others. After all isn't that what were mostly here for?:)
#21: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jan 13, 2013
Did you actually use "great puzzles" and "Sensei" in the same sentence, Aldege? We all know what happened the last time Sensei started churning out great puzzles left and right. :-)
#22: John Macdonald (perlwolf) on Jan 13, 2013 [SPOILER]
I'm still trying to figure out why there are pom poms on the skate (one over the toe, and one on the side of the ankle). Is someone trying for a Battle of the Blades cross-over back to hockey? Figure skates and no checking - maybe the Leafs would have a chance... nah. (I remember the line "Well, there's always next season" being used by a newscaster one year after the Leafs had just played their final exhibition game, two nights prior to the season opener.)
#23: Jan Wolter (jan) on Dec 8, 2013 [SPOILER]
I though it was Santa's sleigh, overflowing with gifts.
#24: besmirched tea (besmirched tea) on Sep 1, 2016
