edge logic on the 2 clue in r16 to dot c20 and line logic solves the rest

no guessing

but what is this?
an animal?
#5: Tom King (sgusa) on Jan 1, 2012 [SPOILER]
Bug, your logic is impeccable. Your negative image deduction, not so much ;D It is the aternative of my other negative image puzzle. You posed lobster/crab. That one was a lobster.

I had thought a Condor. I guess I've never really thought of glow-in-the-dark crabs as being from the northwest, particularly.

Dungeness, Joe. I always enjoy your puzzles. Sometimes too much deep thinking for me. Happy New Year! LOL
#8: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
I forgot the title as I was solving, and I had "Native in the Southwest" in my head, so I was expecting an eagle or something. When I finished and saw the crab, I thought, "what sort of crab lives in the southwest?"

On a related note, a local restaurant features all-you-can-eat Dungeness crab every Wednesday. To save space on the marquee, they state "AYCE DUNG"

Kristen, you're such a trip!
#10: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 2, 2012
I stared at it a long time, and couldn't decide what it was. It was not until I read the description did the image finally appear.

Very fun solve.

I'm glad I solved it AFTER all your revisions.

I'd never heard of dungeness crabs, and wondered if it was some sort of epithet for my flippancy. (Of course, most seafood is of no interest to me.)

I'm glad you like my puzzles. I also enjoy yours; they are a good combination of challenge and image.
#12: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Jan 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
It look delicious. Nice big claws.
#13: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Jan 4, 2012
i will take that as a compliment sgusa
now i can totally see it

like kristen, for some reason i also had "southwest" in my mind and was trying to picture a desert creature or a cactus or something

fasstar, "oops" on your part, since there is no description for you to have read... unless reading a blank description actually DID help you to see what this was supposed to be
haha
#14: Tom King (sgusa) on Jan 4, 2012
Total compliment, Bugaboo. You see everything except occasionally the obvious. :-D Thanks for proving tons of puzzles, my friend.

Funny, that wasn't a dig. This is the 2nd negative image puzzle I created. They wouldn't work the other way. Once you see it the first time, or are creating it, there is no other image in your brain. If you don't, it is weird until you SEE it. Then you cannot UNSEE it.
#16: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 5, 2012
That does seem funny, doesn't it, Bugaboo. There is no description in the description field, but it is there in comments #5 and #7.

Like Tom, I also appreciate the solving hints you post on all the tricky puzzles. It's nice to know when we get stuck that someone will come along and help us out. :-)
#17: Alicia Snyder (prinny) on Jan 5, 2012 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Being that I'm a native of the southwest, I kept having to remind myself that this was north of me..therefore, I was expecting a crab of some sorts and didn't really see the negative image until I stepped back a little. But even before the negative image appeared, I figured it was supposed to be a crab by the beady little eyes :).. oh and no guessing here, just some line logic to finish it out. Nice one Tom!

Very cool once someone told me what it was. I love crab!
#19: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 5, 2012
i don't like crabby people
#20: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Jan 17, 2012
Found to be logically solvable by gator.
#21: Gator (gator) on Jan 17, 2012 [HINT] [SPOILER]
I used edge logic on the 2 clue in column 20 to make R16C20 (and R17C20) a dot. So looking at a different way than bugaboo, but getting the same result.

Nice puzzle. I like the negative image.
