Also, this puzzle is not one of the easier ones. I hope you find it enjoyable to figure out.

I'm sorry, Adege. Maybe you just didn't see who the author was. Coming from an excellent puzzler as yourself, I will take your comments as a great compliment.

what a crazy tough solve!
did i miss something easier (this is only 1+ on difficulty)
i used edge logic everywhere i could and about gave up but i think i solved it without guessing
great hat by the way

did you really just put "step on your pointed tows"? you read that and went, "yup, that's right."

Karl, I did unintentially misspell toes for the context. Thank you.

I'm not sure if I can solve this one without more than 2 move lookaheads.

Really nice image. I got hung up on the solve though, and had to make an educated guess on the edge logic.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by blurglecruncheon.

A nice image and I really enjoyed the waves of edge logic through this one. It's definitely nontrivial and rewarding. My solution looks at 3 of the edges, though it's also interesting to note that edge logic on columns 1 and 2 leaves 5 places where a black square can be.

I placed some of the 9 early, then part of the 6-2 as C30R22 must be a dot. But that only goes so far.

The 6 in the top row means that we must have a dot in C17/19/21 as otherwise R2 would have a 1-length.

But that also only goes so far. So we need to chip away at the right edge. R11 is a dot as otherwise we have a 4-long in C29. But the 6 above row 11 gives a contradiction. You can fill in a few more dots on the right edge, and you're good to go.

It is a great illustration, and I like the point of view. I did have to guess 3 times, including to even get started.

David and Andrew - agreed edge logic and then 2 lookahead contradiction in the last column solve this. Here is a detailed walkthrough.

EL on R23 makes R23C1-15,29-30 dots. LL.

EL on R1 makes R1C1-7,18-30 dots. LL.

EL on C30 makes R2,11,20-22 dots.

Next is the contradiction logic on C30. Focus on how C28 will be affected at the top. If R3-8C30 is filled in, then R4C38 will be black and R5C38 will be a dot. This makes C38 invalid. So R3C30 is a dot. The same logic makes R4C30 a dot. The logic is similar for R530, but it takes looking 2 moves ahead for this one to see that it makes C38 invalid. LL to finish.

Instead of using the 2 moves ahead contradiction for R5C30 I used EL again in R23 to show that no matter where the 9 is in R23, in R22 C20-21 is part of the 6, not the 2. Then LL.

Then 2-way on the 2 in C11 makes C12R5-6,12-15 dots. LL to finish.
