Puzzle Description:

Just like another recent puzzle, working on this one put four different songs in my head...list in comments.

#1: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]

Chain Gang - The Pretenders
Rope On Fire - Morphine
Chains - His Boy Elroy
Baby Don't Say Goodbye - Dead or Alive

#2: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
The Morphine and Dead or Alive songs have references to chains in the lyrics...it's not just completely random. Although, to be honest "Daylight" by Matt & Kim popped into my head while making it also and I don't think there are any chain-related references in that one, so it was pretty random.
#3: larrry grizzard (gizzard) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
Ball and Chain, Unchained Melody come to mind. A few other older songs, whose titles I can only approximate. To tell you the truth, the Pretenders is the only one on your list I'm familar with, David. <:O
#4: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
I can't believe Ball and Chain never crossed my mind!
#5: Al LaPointe (kancamagus) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
I only had one... Carole King singing 'Chains'...
Nice pic!
#6: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
Fabulous image David, The Pretenders was the only one i'm familiar with from your list as well, but i know Ball&Chain,Unchained Melody for sure(first dance Niki and i had together),and Carol King singing Chains.Isn't there also an old song titled Chain of Fools. I seem to remember The Commitments doing a cover of it. By the way,has anyone ever seen that movie about the Commitments?,great movie.:)
#7: Kai-Uwe Zickerick (conzick) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
Chain Reaction - Diana Ross
#8: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
"Chains of Love" by Erasure and Sam Cooke singing the more traditional "Chain Gang" both came to mind also, but neither stuck in my head like those others.
#9: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 19, 2011
What about Fleetwood Mac?
#10: david bryan (bdaved) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
Aretha (and Don Covay's) two-Grammy-winning "Chain of Fools" deserve a little more love here.
#11: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
David your doing it to me again,Erasure was such an awesome band, and the band they evolved from was Yaz which started out as Yazoo, another fantastic band.

Kristen, i don't remember the song your referring to by Fleetwood Mac,but again what a great band.

David Bryan,Aretha did the first version of Chain of Fools that i heard, but i preferred it done by The Commitments.

Hey everyone i just remembered The Beatles did a song titled Chains...Chains my baby's got me locked up in chains...And they ain't the kind, that you can see...

What about a band with chains in their name..Alice in Chains.
#12: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Oct 19, 2011
Fleetwood Mac had a song called The Chain. "Chains...keep us together (running in the shadows)"
#13: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 19, 2011
I have Upstairs at Eric's...mostly for "Don't Go", not a huge fan otherwise. Alice in Chains is good for when I'm in that kind of mood.
#14: Teresa K (fasstar) on Oct 19, 2011
Really nice image, David, and fun solve. Here is the song that came to mind:

Aldege, the Commitments is a wonderful film, and the members of the band are/were members of real bands. One of the girl was in the Cranberries, for example, though you probably already knew this and all the other bands.

Poi Dog Pondering has The Chain, though they may be rather obscure. Great live show though, they whittle the band down to a dozen or so members when they tour.

Unchain My Heart by Gregg Allman

Helpless by CSNY ("the chains are tied and locked across the doors...")

And didn't the girl sing Chain of Fools in the film School of Rock?
#16: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 20, 2011
Wow larry, your one of the few people i've encountered who knows Poi Dog Pondering. They are obscure but i love them.I wasn't aware of the actors in The Commitments being from actual bands, nor was i aware of the one girl being with the Cranberries which was another great group, and thanks for mentioning another great Canadian artist in Neil Young from CSNY.:)
#17: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz71) on Oct 20, 2011
Rather brilliant image David, love this puzzle :)
#18: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 20, 2011
Thanks!
#19: larrry grizzard (gizzard) on Oct 20, 2011
Last time I saw PDP, their encore was Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, who if I am not mistaken, is another native of the Great White NOrth.
#20: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 20, 2011
I never saw PDP play...but I did see Susan Voelz solo.
#21: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 20, 2011
Ok since were on about great bands,do any of you know of or like The The,or Bob's your Uncle.I'm sure their are thousands of bands we could remember, but it's cool to be reminded about them,at least for me it is. :)
#22: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 20, 2011
Like The The...I actually heard "Dogs of Lust" recently. Haven't heard of Bob's Your Uncle...but I like the song "Bob's Yer Uncle" by The Happy Mondays. Does that count?
#23: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Oct 20, 2011
Sure,i'm not familiar with The Happy Mondays,i'll have to check them out.:)
#24: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Oct 20, 2011

#25: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Oct 21, 2011

#27: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Sep 21, 2018
Unchain my Heart was first recorded by Ray Charles, and famously by Joe Cocker.
#28: Bill Eisenmann (Bullet) on Sep 21, 2018
