No, just the end of the Mayan calender. December 21, 2012 merely marks the end of the 13th b'ak'tun. What happens then? ...The beginning of the 14th b'ak'tun, of course!

My son in 10th grade undertook a year-long honors seminar on the Mayan culture that culminated in a week-long practicum on the Yucatan peninsula. He told me the people there (both descendants of and experts on the Maya) on the whole thought the 2012 hysteria was pretty hilarious. :)

ROFL, lizteach, a very similar thought was the inspiration for the image and description. XD The doomsdayers will always be with us (ironic, isn't it).
