i dont get the title (the part about the dark)

I don't get the feeding part since they are non-edible ;-)

the title is from a saying, typically quoted by anyone working for a boss. "they keep us in the dark and feed us bulls---. which is how mushrooms are grown. sorry about the confusion, I see now the title does appear to lead right into the description.

Smoke them? You don't smoke mushrooms unless your talking on a smoker thingy.

You don't smoke them, you eat them. But not with yogurt, cuz that somehow nullifies the psilocybin.

Speaking of which, there is very exciting research into hallucinogenic treatment for terminally ill people. They take a trip, and when they come down they report having confronted their disease and come to terms with it, and no longer fear death, or even rue the condition or their fate.

Big Pharma hates this, because it's a one-time treatment, extremely low cost, and eliminated the need for hugely expensive medications.
