Puzzle Description:

I dropped my phone in the toilet and I'm hoping it's not dead forever. It is currently sitting in a bag of rice because I hear that's supposed to draw out the moisture. We'll see... And let's just say for the sake of the solvability of this puzzle, that my toilet is green.

I hope you popped the battery out right away. That's number one. Then blow out and air dry. My dad has LOTS of experience with this situation!

I had a phone in the pocket of my bathing suit and went into a hot tub in Vegas. 10 minutes later, after a good soak, I felt it vibrating and took it out and dried it out for two days. It worked for about two months, but only when it was plugged in.

I did a load of laundry and didn't check the pockets of my wife's hoodie.I found her phone in the washer when i took the load out.We tried the rice thing to no avail.I had to buy her a new phone which cost me plenty because she's spoiled and just had to have the latest i phone.I check all pockets now...twice.lol By the way it looks like you have too much Tidy Bowl happening in tour toilet water,it's awfully blue.lol.

After you've taken the battery out, you can also leave the back off the phone and set it on top of your DVD player, cable box, etc. - something that gives off low, dry heat, for a day or two.

i gotta ask
how did you happen to drop your phone in the toilet of all places?
#9: Sarah Duncan (haras89) on Mar 25, 2011 [SPOILER]
It was in the pocket of my hoodie and it fell out.

And, btw, I did take the battery out. So far, it isn't turning on. I'm gonna let it dry for a couple days.

Sorry to disappoint you Sarah, but there's a good chance it's not going to work.Hopefully the phone was old and now you can get a new high falutin one that you can do pbn puzzles on.Niki's i phone does everything.
#11: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Mar 26, 2011
I did that once with a bucket of brown paint, when my phone was in the front pocket of my overalls. This was 10 years ago, so it was just a "dumb phone."
#12: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Mar 26, 2011
Speaking of dumb phones if it was a Samsung like mine,it deserves to die.I hope i don't get a call from any Samsung lawyers cause i probably won't be able to hear them anyways.

My sister once dropped the phone in a bookstore's toilet with an auto-flush system, so no bother to dry it, it just gone to the sea, I think.
#14: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Mar 27, 2011
Now there's a song title"Gone to the sea,by Jaime Lee".lol.

I washed my phone. Dried it off when I found it, did the rice thing and it has been working for months!
Good Luck!!

So I actually tried plugging it in to see what happens (thanks to wsnyder98's story) and it did turn on. It, of course, shut off as soon as I unplugged it. My dad has the same phone so I put his battery in my phone and it turned on with no problems! So I just need to buy a new battery!

YEAH!

Fun puzzle and comments.

I have a Motorola (purple flip phone) and I have dropped it a hundred times, but never in the toilet. The thing seems indestructible. But I'm saving these suggestions just in case.

My daughter (who is mentally disabled) has a cheap @20 Trackfone, but it's a Motorola too and still works after 3 years of OCD taking it apart and putting it back together a hundred times, including the tiny SIM card, which even got lost on the floor of the car once. That phone still works perfectly. Unbelievable.

I dropped my phone in the toilet once. I didn't have pockets so I had it tucked into the waistband of my pants.

My Mother dropped hers in the swimming pool, she had leaned in to hear what one of the kids were saying and it fell out of her pocket.

There's also a story at my job that a coworker took the phone in the pool purposely because he thought it was waterproof (definitely not).
