A fun, simple puzzle, Brian. I really liked it! :-)#2: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Nov 9, 2010
i am not sure what this means#3: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Nov 9, 2010 [SPOILER]
Just an erlenmeyer flask (flat bottom) and a florence flask (round bottom) as seen in any chemistry lab. Similar uses but the erlenmeyer is better on hot plates and magnetic stirrers. Both good for distillation.#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Nov 9, 2010 [SPOILER]
Nice puzzle, Brian.#5: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Nov 9, 2010
Bugabbo, this used to be the slogan for DuPont. Wikipedia explains the current meaning:
This statement is used for commentary on several different topics, from the promotion of prescription or recreational drugs, to the praise of chemicals and plastics, to the criticism of the same, sarcastically.
thanks for the explanation#6: Trish (tryingmysoul) on Nov 10, 2010
Nice puzzle.#7: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Nov 10, 2010
another cool puz, Brian#8: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Jan 19, 2012 [SPOILER]
One thing I remember from high school chemistry: Earl has a flat bottom; Flo has a round bottom.#9: Velma Warren (Shiro) on Aug 19, 2018
A friend of mine from college has an older brother (David Beebe) who was the lead singer of a Houston-based band called Banana Blender Surprise. At one of their concerts, Dave was working the crowd with the usual "Say Hey" (HEEEYYY) "Say Ho" (HO-O-O), and then he said, "All right y'all, if you can dig it, I want everyone to shout, 'Erlenmeyer Flask!'" Which led to mixed results; half the crowd fell silent in confusion, and the students and nerdier fans screamed, "ERLENMEYER FLASK!!!"
Fun solve. Good image.#10: Velma Warren (Shiro) on Aug 19, 2018 #11: Ga Hendrick (GaHendrick) on Aug 19, 2018 [SPOILER]
As a chemist I especially like this puzzle. A clever trick for remembering which flask is which; and a clever story.
Thanks for the great puzzle.
