A great interpretation of the theme and a really nicely done, not overly challenging image.

Great image! I have always wondered how many ghost towns are out there. I am amazed that more haven't been resettled. Who owns the land? Is it government owned or mine company owned? Thanks for the puzzle.
#4: Jota (jota) on Sep 3, 2010
Thanks for your entry Liz!

Hi Ellen :-) Thank you for your comment. Aspen, Colorado was once a ghost town - not totally uninhabited, but it had a much smaller population than it did during its heyday as one of the most important silver mining towns. Today, it's one of the world's most popular ski resorts - I guess in that sense, it was resettled. As for land ownership, some of the ghost towns are still owned by mining companies, as in the case of Victor, Colorado - not totally ghost, but it still has many old buildings. All of the abandoned buildings in St. Elmo, Colorado are privately owned. It is almost total ghost and is listed on the National Register of Historic places.

Hurray - Linda entered the Weekly Contest - and won! Congratulations. I just finished this beautiful puzzle, and it was a joy to solve in every way. You are so talented.

I have a question about your technique: Do you sit down and just start painting with the webpbn puzzle creator program? Or do you sketch it out first or use some other medium to base it on? I was just blown away by the artful beauty of this scene.

thank you, tom :-) i appreciate that!

teresa - thank you so much! didn't expect this at all - i just had to do a puzzle as a thanks to jan for creating this site. i really appreciate your comments. as for technique - i tend to do thumbnails because they help with composition. however, sometimes the thumbnails don't work and i have to go into "attack mode" and just go right to the screen. i am very interested in your approach as some of your puzzles are very intricate.
