Puzzle Description:

That's me peeking out from behind my name. It looks like regular text if you view it from an angle from below. Tilt your laptop backwards, or if you are using a desktop, get down on the floor and look up. Then try to explain your strange behavior to your boss and co-workers or your spouse/kids. Definition and link in comments.

Anamorphosis - from the Greek words meaning "formed again" - is a distorted projection or perspective requiring the viewer to use special devices or occupy a specific vantage point to reconstitute the image.

This puzzle image was a very crude and simplistic example of anamorphosis.

You have probably seen the photos that have made the rounds via email depicting the sidewalk art of Julian Beever

and Edgar Muller

My brother made a really cool anamorphosis ink drawing for my parents' anniversary. From one angle you can read my father's first name. From another angle you can read my mother's first name. From the front, it just looks like a pretty floral design.

Yep. That's the Irish in me. My father's mother was born in Ireland, and my mother's father is Scotch-Irish.

Nice.

I liked it...but what I'd really love to see is the ink drawing your brother gave to your parents! Did he do it himself or does some particular person specialize in creating that type of drawing?

He did it himself, JoDeen. It's framed and hanging on a wall at my parents' house in Wisconsin, so I can't show it to you. He is very clever and creative. He also does scissors art, making a card that when opened unfolds into a 3D image.

Wow!

No problem getting a good view of this image! :) As the unofficial IT guy at the office, it's not uncommon for staff to see me crouching, bending, kneeling, even laying on the ground.
