It is dangerous to use electronics during a thunderstorm, they attract lightening and static electricity.
#6: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jun 1, 2018 [SPOILER]
It's dangerous for the electronics, maybe. You'd be in greater danger talking on a corded phone (and even so not in much danger at all). They don't "attract" the lightning or static, they are just more sensitive to it. Your toaster is getting the same jolts and zaps as they are, but the toaster just doesn't care.

Oh, Joe, you don't know my toaster. It's very sensitive and caring, and in fact can be quite warm.

And Bullet, you and I just worked this one the day after Hurricane Ida. sigh.

I was surprised by how good this image looks!
great job.

I've heard of joggers getting struck by lightning when they were wearing metal ipods (back when that was a thing)
#10: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Sep 1, 2021 [SPOILER]
The jogger would have been hit anyway. It was the fact that their head was taller than the surrounding stuff that made them get zapped.

Ida is here for me today.

Yeah, Ida's tornadoes smashed some houses in nearby towns, but I am fortunate to not even have a tree down. In fact, despite the winds, our recyclables can by the street didn't even tip over!
The lake near our house has a couple trees down, though. I took a walk and saw the fresh broken wood where full-grown trees were split at the trunk.
