took all of my brain cells to logically solve it...don't have any left to guess what it is...
#2: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Aug 22, 2010

Found to be logically solvable by Gator.

You need some rather hard to see edge logic on column 20 to solve this one. Starting from the bottom, starting looking where the 6 clue CAN go (starts on row 16 going up). Look how this affects column 18 or 19 and you will find where they will be invalid. But you cannot mark the cells as dots as the 3 clue could go in them. Eventually, you will find it can only go within rows 1-8. So R3C20-R6C20 are black. The rest will solve with line logic.

Also when you get towards the end of the puzzle, there is another hard part to see. Looking at row 6, no matter how that row will be filled in, R6C2 will be blank.

Very nice puzzle to solve.

Good idea, Francie. Best I've heard yet!
#8: Gator (Gator) on Aug 22, 2010 [HINT]
@Tom - if you break it down to one step at a time, it's not so bad. It just takes a lot of steps to invalid rows 9-16. This is why I suggested moving up from 16 as you could move up one row at a time. Also, we are used to placing dots when we do edge logic, but we do not get to in this case. So you have to keep the parts that are invalid in your head (or temporarily mark them).

That was my thought too! I thought of naming it "Schlameel, Schlamozzle" (sp?) but decided to go with a mystery instead.
