Thank you, Teresa. Great job. I was so distressed by the numerous wastes of time that have flooded my "new puzzles" list recently(there were like 50 of them over the last day or two; I just want to swat them away like an irritating gnat), and then I saw yours. I can always count on you to make my day, and give me the satisfaction of solving and looking at a well-created, purposeful, high quality puzzle every time.#3: Jane Doe (telly) on Feb 9, 2010

Tremendous image and a totally satisfying solve. The difficulty came in the detail not in trickiness and it was a very rewarding experience. Wonderful use of color.#10: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 10, 2010 [SPOILER]

The name reminds me of a series of short science fiction stories written by Barry B. Longyear, set on a planet that was colonized by humans when their space ship crashed. The ship was owned and operated by a circus troupe, with clowns, magicians, tight rope aerialists, acrobats, elephants, horses, etc. The space ship was named The City of Baraboo, referring both to the town you refer to above but also to the nickname Barry got as a child when his younger sibling was unable to say "Barry" and called him "Baraboo" instead. The stories were originally published in Isaac Asimov Science Fiction magazine and later collected into books, followed up with a full length novel "The City of Baraboo" which gave the back story of how the traveling circus got started and then got stranded on their remote planet.
