I remember this display from when I visited Baraboo as a newsly wed - many, many years ago. :-)
Thank you, Teresa. Great job. I was so distressed by the numerous wastes of time that have flooded my "new puzzles" list recently(there were like 50 of them over the last day or two; I just want to swat them away like an irritating gnat), and then I saw yours. I can always count on you to make my day, and give me the satisfaction of solving and looking at a well-created, purposeful, high quality puzzle every time.#3: Jane Doe (telly) on Feb 9, 2010

Thanks, everyone.#8: Jota (jota) on Feb 10, 2010
Sylvain, I read your request for this week's contest, and closed my eyes and tried to imagine what would be colorfully artistic. My first idea would require a larger canvas (I may attempt it some day when I have more time). My second idea was to draw an antique circus wagon. Of course I would need a model, so I went for a virtual visit to my favorite circus place - Baraboo, Wisconsin. It was fun to recognize exhibits online that I had seen in person so long ago. Making a puzzle for webpbn is almost a spiritual experience for me, so I put my heart into each creation.
Adam, thanks for your encouraging comment. I'm flattered (and I appreciate the ego boost).
i couldn't have expressed myself better than Sylvain did! That's way he's the boss! Thanks a lot Teresa! !Wow!#9: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Feb 10, 2010
Tremendous image and a totally satisfying solve. The difficulty came in the detail not in trickiness and it was a very rewarding experience. Wonderful use of color.#10: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 10, 2010 [SPOILER]
Thanks, Jota and BlackCat. I'm glad everyone likes it. I spent a lot of time reworking the details of this one to get ti just right. The face was especially tricky to do, because of the size restrictions.#11: Byrdie (byrdie) on Feb 11, 2010
Beautiful! I think that says it all.#12: Teresa K (fasstar) on Feb 11, 2010

The name reminds me of a series of short science fiction stories written by Barry B. Longyear, set on a planet that was colonized by humans when their space ship crashed. The ship was owned and operated by a circus troupe, with clowns, magicians, tight rope aerialists, acrobats, elephants, horses, etc. The space ship was named The City of Baraboo, referring both to the town you refer to above but also to the nickname Barry got as a child when his younger sibling was unable to say "Barry" and called him "Baraboo" instead. The stories were originally published in Isaac Asimov Science Fiction magazine and later collected into books, followed up with a full length novel "The City of Baraboo" which gave the back story of how the traveling circus got started and then got stranded on their remote planet.
