nice! I live in the land of ferries - Seattle! very cute! I love this series, btw.
#3: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 6, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thanks, Faerie! I wasn't sure I got the image right. I remember just one - in Kechikan, Alaska. The airport is on an island, and you have to take a ferry to and from the city of Ketchikan, which is also an island.
#4: Jennifer Jones (geekess) on Dec 6, 2009
Hey I finally got one without reading all the comments!! Woo hooo! :) Enjoyed it, thanks Teresa!
#5: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Dec 6, 2009
Quite lovely.
#6: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 6, 2009 [SPOILER]
Excellent. Is the fairy holding a magic wand? Also, beware the water fairies (or the naiads, such as Lena, from Fablehaven) as they will pull you under the water.
#7: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 6, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thanks, Geekess and BlackCat and Adam.

Yes, that's her magic wand. She looks a little crooked. I think I should have added one pixel on her back. Is it worth it to fix it?

What is Fablehaven?
#8: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 6, 2009
It's a book. A fantasy series. For young adults. It's really good.
#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 6, 2009
That sounds like something my son would like. Thanks.
#10: John Breckenridge (jbrecken) on Dec 7, 2009 [SPOILER]
The blue fairy reminds me of Pinocchio.
#11: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 7, 2009 [SPOILER]
Well, it sure does! Pinocchio was my favorite book way back in my childhood days, before I ever saw the movie.

Fairy and Ferry sound nothing alike. Maybe bc I'm from New York and I talk with an accent...
#13: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 7, 2009 [SPOILER]
Write the phonetic pronunciation for both words, Julie, the way you pronounce them. I say both words as FEHR-ee.
#14: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 7, 2009
Very interesting, Julie. I'm trying to imagine how they would sound different.
#15: Jen (LightVader) on Dec 8, 2009
I think it might just be you Julie. They sound the same to me and I'm also from NY.
#16: Sallie Wilbur (sarriemom) on Dec 8, 2009 [SPOILER]
Another lovely puzzle, Teresa! I especially like the way you did the water under the ferry.
#17: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 8, 2009
Thanks, Sallie.
#18: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Dec 9, 2009
I enjoyed this one too! Thanks T!

I also very much like the way you did the water...running it into the frame.
#19: Jen (LightVader) on Dec 9, 2009
I agree with #18. That was a nice touch.
#20: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 9, 2009
That was originally unintended. But I noticed it while test solving it, and I thought, hmmm, I think I'll just leave it, I kinda like it that way. So there ya go. I should make mistakes more often. :-)
#21: Julie Katz (katwomanjulie) on Dec 9, 2009
Fairy like Dairy and Ferry like Berry.
#22: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 9, 2009
LOL!!! I (and probably many others) laugh because those 2 words for us are pronounced the same! How are they pronounced differently is what we want to know.
#23: Julie Katz (katwomanjulie) on Dec 9, 2009
Ok... Fairy like Air... and Fehhhh ree

short e sound like EH like Rhianna's song You can stand under my umbrella ella ella eh eh that sound is in Ferry while they other is is AERee
#24: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 9, 2009
Is fairy for you pronounced like FAY-ree?
#25: Jane Doe (telly) on Dec 9, 2009
One of my favorites of this series.
per #7-I like that she's a little crooked. I just thought she was an older fairy ;)
really like the water too.
#26: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 10, 2009 [SPOILER]
Thanks, Telly. She is a fairy godmother, so I guess it fits that she looks like an older fairy. :-)
#27: Jota (jota) on Dec 10, 2009
fairy pronunciation: \ˈfer-ē\
ferry pronunciation: \ˈfer-ē, ˈfe-rē\

Merriam- Webster Dict.

#28: Jennifer Jones (geekess) on Dec 10, 2009

#29: Jota (jota) on Dec 10, 2009 [SPOILER]
ROFL , it changed ! You can find it ...

#30: Julie Katz (katwomanjulie) on Dec 10, 2009
it's pronounced like carry and barry and larry and fairy and dairy all of those rhyme but

Ferry is like berry and merry they have an EH sound as the vowel
#31: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 10, 2009
Never mind. It's not working, since in our minds, ALL of those words have the "eh" sound.
#32: Teresa K (fasstar) on Dec 11, 2009
:-D
#33: Jane Doe (telly) on Dec 13, 2009
lol
#34: Julie Katz (katwomanjulie) on Dec 14, 2009
like AYE REE like long vowel sound A

liek the letter A Fayree = fairy

F ehhh rreee = ferry
#35: Jota (jota) on Dec 14, 2009
Mary and Merry.
#36: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Dec 14, 2009
Nobody says "MAY-ree" do they Jota?

But I understand now what you meant, Julie.
#37: Jota (jota) on Dec 14, 2009
Marys born in May perhaps? ;-)
#38: Julie Katz (katwomanjulie) on Dec 14, 2009
I wish one of you couldjust call my cell phone and I can tell you how us NY's pronounce it.
#39: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jan 10, 2010
I fixed Jota's #27 so the pronounciation symbols come out right.

My partner grew up in NYC and she also insists that "Mary" and "merry" are pronounced differently. I'm a midwesterner and can't hear the difference.
#40: Jota (jota) on Jan 10, 2010
Thanks Jan I look a little less crazy now.
#41: M (rmm) on Jan 11, 2010
Beautiful fairy! And yes fairy and ferry are the same unless you're pronouncing it furry or fury or firry or firey or feery.
#42: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jan 11, 2010
Thanks, Fran.
#43: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Dec 18, 2010
this conversation made me laugh
i think they are pronounced the same and cant figure out any distinction
nice puzzle by the way
#44: Diana W (aeris) on Apr 11, 2011 [SPOILER]
They rhyme to me, but I can totally see how someone could think they don't rhyme. If I think about the 'i' as I say "fairy", it sound different from "ferry". So I definitely can't take sides in the discussion, since, I can hear it both ways. :) Maybe it's cause I have an accent too.
#45: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on May 31, 2011
...you say po-tay-to and i say po-tah-to...
