Puzzle Description:

a cat named 1one1y, not because he craves company.. but because he's so 'one'derful. Ha!

OK I swear this one is logically solvable. If you get stuck, look at the possible situations for the bottom two columns. No matter how you slice it, R9C2 and R10C2 must be filled, and R9C3/R10C3 must be dots.

Still stumped? Remember that you can 'eliminate' the bottom '1' from columns 4-9, since you know they will somehow fit that checkered battered in the bottom two rows. Good luck!

Agree that it's logically solvable just as described in the hint. I really love a puzzle like this.

I also say it's logical. I didn't know what the picture was until I read it, but now I think he's kind of cute. Looks quite fluffy.

I got it straight away - but don't know if I just took a lucky guess on the first line I did. :)

What a 1ion1y 1ooking cat!

Found to be logically solvable by Gator.

Very cool puzzle to solve.

A good challenge of one's solving skills but I really have to squint, turn my head sideways, put one finger in my ear and hum the theme from "Cat on a hot tin roof" to make out the image.

It's only because there's an image in this puzzle (sort of) that I gave any kind of marks to the quality of this puzzle. Otherwise it's just a puzzle. I kinda wish there was a way to mark puzzles as skill builders or something of that sort so that one knows they're getting into that sort of *puzzle rather than a *paint by number.

good point, Martin. I suppose I can always add (skill builder) to the title in the future, so people have the heads up.

I liked it! It was fun and challenging.

Ditto #7. This was a great challenge. I loved solving it.

ditto all. ;) nice, fun solve/puzzle/image.

Wow. I loved how this one solved, and couldn't get it until I looked at the hint in #1. Kudos on making this one, ant!

Very cool.

fantastic solve

Good puzzle. I needed the hints and spoilers, though. Good job.

Phew, I finally finished it. (Without help) :)

Amazing solving. Thanks.

Tricky solve, cute kitty.
#21: Ery (erythrina) on Nov 10, 2012 [HINT] [SPOILER]
I got it without the hint, using the bottom two rows logic. I saw the pic when I was done, but thought it was a dog. (still think it looks more like a dog.)

Exciting puzzle. :)
#23: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jul 23, 2013 [HINT]
I used summing on the bottom two rows.
There are 8 black pixels in r9-10.
The 2s in c2&3 cannot be next to each other because all the horizontal clues are 1s.
So there can only be 2 black pixels in c2-3,r9-10.
That leaves 6 pixels for c4-9,r9-10.

And that means that the bottom 1 in each column 4-9 *must be* in r9 or 10.

Keeping that in mind, it solves with line logic. (Starting with c4 where r1-2 and 5-8 can be dotted.)

I love the title.

"One is the 1one1iest number that you'll ever see."

Had to guess several times. Thought it was a dog.
#26: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on May 17, 2022 [HINT]
I really like the logical solve here!

I found a more roundabout way than Joe--I saw that there were restrictions on the bottom 2 rows but went looking in a less efficient place.

After filling row 3, I looked at c3. You can't place a black square in r10, as then you don't have room for the checkerboard to the right. So then c2R10 is a black square.

If c2r7 is black, we can't fill the 2 in c3. So c2r7 as a dot lets us fill in the 3 left rows.

Now with c4r4 black and one of c4(r9 or r10) black, we can white out other cells, enough to fill r5.

Setting c9r1/2 to black means c6 has dots down to r4 and this can't place all its 1's.

For me this was a tuffy! Whew...my brain is a little tired. Lol!
