Sitting pretty. Not too easy, not too hard. Very nice image. I like the feather effect.#2: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Sep 28, 2009 [SPOILER]
Cute, but his face looks a little flat.#3: Robyn Broyles (ginkgo100) on Sep 29, 2009 [SPOILER]
Real budgies' faces look flat to me! I'll grant that this one's face looks slightly disproportionate unless you see him as stretching his neck straight up to look at something.#4: Jota (jota) on Oct 1, 2009
Fascinating budgie facts:
The posture I described is certainly realistic for a budgie. Their necks may be hard to see under the feathers, but they have 10 bones and are very flexible. With its beak, a budgie can reach the feathers on its entire body except for its head to preen them.
This budgie is an adult male. You can tell because his "cere," the fleshy area above his beak, is blue. In babies and a few color variations of adult males, it's pink, and in females, it's brown.
Budgies are members of the parrot family native to dry regions of Australia. They are parakeets, but not all parakeets are budgies: a parakeet is any small parrot with a long tail.
Budgies are among the best talkers of the parrot family. Males talk better than females, and have been known to use words in context—not just repeat things in a meaningless way.
Which is amazing for males ;>)#5: Teresa K (fasstar) on Oct 1, 2009
