Puzzle Description:

a red snapper? (I must say I do think this classic way of fishing is not very nice for fish, they would have been much better of with red cat not catching them...)

This was very difficult. I had to use massive color/edge logic in combination to solve it. I am not completely sure that I solved it logically.
#2: Robyn Broyles (ginkgo100) on Jul 29, 2009 [HINT]
I did the same and got pretty far, but in the end I was not able to solve it logically. I thought my "if-thens" were passing the realm of "PBN logic" and entering the realm of guessing.
#3: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 29, 2009
That's kind of what I was referring to. Let's see what Gator says about it.
#4: Gator (Gator) on Jul 29, 2009 [HINT]
I call guessing. You have to look too many steps ahead to be called logically solvable.
#5: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Jul 30, 2009
Found to require some guessing by jan.
#6: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jul 30, 2009
Actually, I was sorely tempted to say "much guessing". I had to look at the solution.

Funny image, but could use some work to improve the solvability.
#7: Mark Conger (aruba) on Jul 30, 2009
I was able to solve this one without guessing.
#8: Gator (Gator) on Jul 30, 2009 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Mark - what's the next step past here?

#9: Jan Wolter (jan) on Jul 30, 2009
I embedded Gator's image in his response. Gator got much further than I did. No surprise.
#10: Jota (jota) on Jul 30, 2009
I solved it, guessing I think!
#11: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Jul 30, 2009
That is EXACTLY where I got before I had to look at the solution. There is absolutely NO way to continue logically as far as I can see, but I would love for someone to show me how they did it.
#12: Jota (jota) on Jul 31, 2009 [SPOILER]
I call it "image logic": It's obvious that red cat is fishing so he needs to have a fishing rod.
#13: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Jul 31, 2009
Jota, you might want to edit your comment(#12)...don't you think it's a spoiler?
#14: Jota (jota) on Aug 1, 2009
Thanks
#15: Teresa K (fasstar) on Aug 2, 2009 [HINT] [SPOILER]
Vindersloon, I loved this one, even with the guessing. I used "image logic" like Jota did, and figured his fishing pole has to be blue and probably starts at the top where the line connects. Great fun! I'm so happy for Red Cat who is a happy cat now. :-)
#16: Shae (shaekin) on Aug 3, 2009 [HINT]
Even with "image logic" I still couldn't guess correctly the first time. And I also got exactly where Gator did.
#17: Gator (Gator) on Aug 4, 2009 [HINT]
I did forget one more move, but it won't make much difference. R6C14 and R6C13 are dots.

You can invalidate each of the cells in column 14 except for the bottom one, but only by looking many moves ahead. Although it is rather easy to do given how they go in a stair step pattern.

R3C14 takes looking 3 moves ahead.
R4C14 takes looking 2 moves ahead.
R8C14 takes looking 3 moves ahead.
R9C14 takes looking 4 moves ahead.
R11C14 takes looking 2 moves ahead.

So, still not considered valid for "logically solvable", but I can't find a better way to get at the solution.

nice image but i had to guess at the same spot as everyone else
#19: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Jul 29, 2012
Found to be solvable with deep lookahead by gator.
#20: Gator (gator) on Jul 29, 2012
Re-classified now.
#21: JUAN PEREZ (mudito) on Sep 13, 2012
Yo llegué a la misma imagen que ha puesto Gator, y probé la primera solución lógica: unir con los recuadrod azules la línea negra con el gato rojo. Y encontré la solución al primer intento.

No fué nada difícil.
#22: BlackCat (blackcat) on May 29, 2016
That was a lot of fun. I really enjoy using color logic.
#23: Norma Dee (norm0908) on Sep 1, 2017
Did some guessing, but loved the final image.
