Puzzle Description:

Pea whistle. Critical for lifeguards, police officers, and campers. When the kids were little, each child had to wear a whistle in case they got lost.

Beautiful. Not a beginner's puzzle.

I got it with logic alone, but it was hard. I'm going to try again just to make sure it was logic and not a mistake that solved it for me!

Definitely solvable by logic alone. Here's how:

DON'T READ THIS if you don't want instructions on how to solve.

Go as far as you can with line logic. Then use edge logic on the leftmost column. You'll be left with a space of only five possible squares for the block of four, so you can confirm three of the four squares. At this point, line logic alone will take you to the finish line.

That's how I solved it, Robyn. I've been trying to create a small puzzle that requires edge logic, since that is so fun to use.

A fun and challenging puzzle, and I could almost hear the whistle when I finished.

Thanks, Gregg.

Found to be logically solvable by jan.

A lovely little puzzle. Great work.
#9: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 17, 2009
Thanks, Jan. My attempts at these small ones have led me to a new respect for you and Gator and others who are so good at creating these edge logic puzzles. They are more challenging than I guessed they would be.

Ditto most of the above comments. This was a Gator-ish puzzle if I have ever seen one. Nice.

Hi Teresa,
Your black & white puzzles are fun to solve...also very logical. Thanks once again!
#12: Teresa K (fasstar) on Jul 19, 2009
Thanks, Adam and Jewel.

Agree with #s 2 & 3 except that I applied the edge logic to the 6 at the bottom. Very nicely drawn puzzle and gets high marks from me.

I was thinking life guard tower until nearly the end. The long part of the whistle looked like steps to me.

Thanks, Martin.

I got the music notes before the whistle part and thought it might turn out to be a boom box! But I guess that's not a good thing for a lifeguard, they wouldn't be able to hear someone calling them for help! Nice small puzzle, T!
