You're welcome, and thanks for the compliment.#9: Jan Wolter (jan) on Nov 10, 2009
This puzzle is one of the ones that I used as a sample puzzle in my Survey of Paint-by-Number Puzzle Solvers as an example of a larger, more difficult puzzle that still has a unique solution. It's an interesting puzzle from a programmer's point of view because some solving strategies that work well on other hard puzzles completely collapse on this one.#10: Adam Nielson (monkeyboy) on Nov 10, 2009I wonder if Adam would be willing to give permission to allow this puzzle to be freely redistributed as part of a standard test set for developers of new solving programs.
Sure, why not.#11: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Jan 30, 2011

Thanks for the wonderful comment. If you like difficult puzzles, check out my puzzle # 7604. I believe it is the most difficult puzzle (of those that are completely line logic solveable) on this site. Enjoy!#16: Vaggelis Kamaris (evag7651) on Aug 7, 2017

Ditto 21. Nice image, really tough solve.#23: Lollipop (lollipop) on Nov 16, 2024
You're no slouch at creating puzzles either, Wombat, and I thank you for that. Now that I'm revisiting the partial solutions for the large LLS and moderate lookaheads that I saved many years ago, I just solved this one so I've also found your recent puzzle-rating origin verses at #18. To completely paraphrase Kristen at #21, you're creative in so many ways.#24: Wombat (wombatilim) on Nov 17, 2024
Thanks, Lollipop!
