I loved this puzzle. It was very fun to solve...but I did rate it low on quality because I stared at it for about 10 minutes after I solved it, trying to figure out what the image was...and even after I finally peeked, it still didn't jump out at me lol.#2: Meg Tayler (rebelcat) on Mar 31, 2008
I think we need a new specifications (for your puzzles especially, aanet). We need to be able to say 1) whether we finished it without peeking (measures intrinsic interest)...and 2)was the puzzle: a)satisfying, b)frustrating or c)somewhere inbetween.
I would have said:
quality: poor (if that's supposed to measure how recognizable or beautiful or well crafted the picture itself is)
difficulty: hard (because it requires both color and edge logic to solve)
did I (or was I tempted to) peek? No (highly intriguing)
satisfaction/frustration level: highly satisfying
I have highly enjoyed several of your puzzles, aanet. Thank you!
I have to say, I loved this puzzle! It was surprisingly tough for such a small puzzle, and for a moment after I solved it, I couldn't see what it was at all. But then I read the description and it jumped right out at me. I LOVE it when a puzzle does that! It's a pleasant little jolt of, "Hey, look at that!"#3: Meg Smith (mamadragonfreak) on Mar 31, 2008
I know some folks like to be able to guess early what they're solving, but me, I get bored with those kinds of puzzles. I like to be surprised. I like to be kept guessing until the very end, and then get rewarded with a pic that really does look like what it says it is.
And, I do think this picture is excellent. Good puzzle, good pic.
This one took time to solve. but i recognized it just as i was filling in the last few squares. it was fun. I really shouldn't do tricky ones like this at work though. it eats away at my work time.#4: Marie-Louise Ambrey (marz) on Mar 31, 2008
This was a great puzzle, I loved the challenge and the end result, thanks :)#5: Jan Wolter (jan) on Mar 31, 2008 [SPOILER]

Many thanks for all the positive comments on this and my previous puzzles. As I only have the time and patience to solve small puzzles, I've limited myself to creating 20x20 puzzles, and enjoy the challenge of trying to create an interesting image and worthwhile puzzle within such a tight constraint. As you can probably guess, I enjoy both drawing and puzzle-solving, so i was very pleased to find this site which allows me to combine both interests.#7: Minnie Fuerstnau (m.fuerstnau) on Apr 2, 2008 [SPOILER]

I agree with all of the above. You shine as the star of the "artistic small puzzle." I agree with you that I only have the time for the small ones, both creating and solving (although I've had to expand some that I've made just to make things work). I think the quality of yours outstanding. The amount of true art that you bring to these is simply amazing. Thank you!#9: Gypso (Gypso) on Apr 2, 2008
I love a puzzle that keeps me guessing it's image all the way through to the end. Your puzzles Marcus (may I call you Marcus? Or would you prefer Aanet?) are almost always puzzling, challenging and maybe (at times) a little frustrating. BUT they always produce a top notch image. I can always trust that the effort I spend in solving one of your little gems will pay off with an excellent image.#10: Barb Edwards (babarann) on Apr 3, 2008
Thank you for sharing your talent! ^V^
Great puzzle here btw. Thanks!
I do enjoy the AH-HAH moment when the picture jumps out at me!#11: Arduinna (arduinna) on Apr 5, 2008
Ditto, ditto, ditto.#12: Alaris Zaaqurin (zephyr) on Apr 28, 2008 [HINT]
And I don't rate the quality by the quality of the picture. I rate it by the quality of the puzzle, two very different things. There are some very beautiful pictures that just aren't that fun to solve, and I rate those low. A puzzle like this, that is challenging and fun to solve and has a recognizable image at the end gets a very high rating in my book!

I din't see what is was until I looked at the comment. But then I saw a clever picture. Hard to solve but done with only logic and a lot of time.#14: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on May 14, 2008
Very good use of color.
I just solved this again after six weeks. I have a new appreciation of just how fabulous your puzzles are, aanet. I re-rated the quality of this "excellent". In the past I was mostly concerned with solving the puzzle. If the pic didn't jump out at me or was on the abstract side I rated it low. I don't do that anymore. Your puzzles are always satisfying and interesting to me, even to redo. They are so far above any others that I have done...or ever done anywhere, anytime. Who ARE you? Lol...reminds me of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" ("Who ARE those guys?!")#15: Adam Nielson (monkey) on May 15, 2008
Anyway, whoever you are, please don't go away...I need you! Sometimes you save my day lol!
Top right corner, with that jagged line of black, was difficult to figure out. Nice overall pic.#16: Bionerd (nieboo) on Jul 28, 2008 [SPOILER]

I recognized it right off. It was very tricky to solve...even using the edge and color logic. great final result though.#18: Jota (jota) on Mar 26, 2009

I enjoyed your small puzzle. It was difficult and I didn't realize what it was until I read the explanation...then, obviously, I loved it! Nice job!
