And I made both of them... Kurt created a 25x. No one is making 20x B&W, and I try to make them difficult. Give the audience what it wants! WE WANT 20X20 Black & White!!! Please...

Less than 1/2 try 20x with more than two colors. Usually, 170 or so attempt my two color puzzles in a week and about 80 attempt more than two colors in the same timeframe. Cater to the audience.

If you are new to this site, and don't know "edge logic," figure out how a clue on an edge will negate the clue next to it. For instance, if you have a 5 (only) on the left edge (c1) and a 2 (only) starting column 2, and the clues down the 5 row go from row 1 1, 2,1,2,1, 4, 5, 5,5 ,6,1,etc. The 5 cannot go in rows 1-8. If you need help with this, please reply and all here will help you figure it out.

then for the last part i couldnt find a really good way to solve it except for this:
(extended) el on the 2 clue in c12 to dot r19-20
ll
then (extended) el on the 3 clue in c14 to dot c14r15

borderline look ahead unless someone has a better solution

at that same point bahabro you cant do that though

i tried iel on that same 5 clue (extending it all the way to c20) and you can get solve a bunch after that, getting dots all the way around that section without an error so i dont know how you used iel on that 5 clue

idk either, bug....just tried it and you're right. not sure what I had already exactly at that point to begin with though. hell, maybe I thought I saw something that wasn't there and I got lucky.... I think I had part of that 5 placed already though, and was looking at all the 2's and 3's in the c's and knew there were only 1's left in the last row. something to that extent and how they had to relate to that 5. idk, I was really tired at the time...

Hey, Tom King, I have created about 200 small b&w puzzles, and about 20 of them are rated higher than a 3.0 for quality. Of those, I only see two that have comments from you indicating that you solved them. I'll bet there are other small b&w puzzles that are rated 3+ that are just waiting for you to solve and comment on.

As for what everyone wants, I'm pretty sure that just about every solver enjoys a nice image at the end, and just about everybody does NOT like plain text puzzles. People who like small b&w puzzles like them IF they are well designed.

Just about everyone enjoys small b&w ones, but they don't necessarily crave them. And a steady diet of just those gets a little tiresome. I for one (and I'm sure there are many others like me) enjoy good color puzzles as well, like the ones Norma makes and the ones Aldege used to make. Variety is the spice of webpbn life.

In the mean time, I'll post a few small ones that you should enjoy, so you don't have to feel so deprived. Poor baby. :-)

other than for a few, I think there are many many good puzzles yet to be solved by most everyone here. everyone likes something new, ofc, but there are so many puzzles here at webpbn that no new one even be published and most people are happy. just work backwards. (there are exceptions, ofc)

Yes, Kurt. I am one of those "very" few. I have even gone back and resolved several again.

I would say it's almost impossible to come up with something new and original in a small b & w. Just ask Adam and remember how many times he has come up with a long list of puzzles with the same subject. A lot of puzzles are simply a "new" way of looking at something old. But, that's OK. We love to solve them.

da....you're one who I had in mind. maybe instead of solving that means you could make a new one? ;)

even multiple puzzle subjects can be good or better than the others before it...it's a different solve. and often times years have gone by before a similar puzzle is made. 90% of the people never saw the first one or two

I am all created-out.

in other words, do what you want. I'd never let the fact that a similar subject that has been broached before stop me from making a (in my eyes) good new puzzle from being made and published

maybe, Adam....or maybe you needed a break and took it. then got comfortable. I highly doubt your mind has nothing more to offer though. but everything has a time and place, and you'll do it if and when you're ever ready again. take all the time you want. (I'd bet it's crossed your mind at some point though, and will again from time to time)

C'mon, Adam (nudge, nudge). I completed a puzzle you created, tonight as there were'nt any new B&W. I had started it before I really understood edge logic. I finished another dozen, and am answering Teresa's challenge. She had 157 puzzles in 25x or smaller two color. I had completed 150 of them. I have completed the two she posted tonight and one other. They are great.

I started in this simply solving puzzles. Never thought I could create one. I didn't know much. I figured out edge logic and had an "ah-hah" moment. I started completing the EL puzzles I couldn't before. Then, I decided I would make one. Pretty proud of it, but I thought it was demeaned. I hadn't commented before, nor had I read comments. I altered that first puzzle because I thought it was being demeaned. I learned it was only regulars having fun with comments, and have formed many wpbn friendships over the short year and a half. If any come to Seattle, you are a friend and I would love to see you and show you around.
