or lost all of his awards and now drives a taxi#3: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Nov 10, 2012
after initial ll:#4: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Nov 11, 2012
the black pixels in r12-14 of c17 are all part of 2-clues in those rows but only one of them (at most) can extend into c18 so at least two of them (if not all three) must go into c16;
no matter which two you choose, r14c16 will always be black
ll to finish
no guessing
exactly bugaboo, thx#5: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Nov 11, 2012 [HINT]
i like bug's way better, but here's how i did it: C18R5 or C18R6 must be a dot, so dot C1R2-4,8-19 and black C2R5. after more LL, two-way the 2 in R12 to black C16R13 and LL to the end.#6: valerie o..travis (bigblue) on Nov 12, 2012
good one tom :)#7: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Nov 12, 2012

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by infrapinklizzard.#11: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Dec 5, 2022 [HINT]
I used distant edge logic on the 5 in c16 vs c14.
If the 5 were in r15-19, the crossing clues will create a conflict in c14 (either a 3-long, or two 1 pixel blocks), so the 5 cannot be in r19.
Then LL to finish
