i solved all but the small area between r8-15 and c30-40 (with only black pixels left to be placed) but couldnt find a good logical way to continue without looking more than 2 moves ahead
if there is a logical way past this then smile logic finishes this puzzle on aldeges head

I was able to work my way through it, but I confess to using "Aldege Hands and Faces" logic.

I worked hard to place the 4 on R10 and that did it for me. Then smile logic.
I marked as no guessing. Nice rendition Al!

got bogged down in the same spot bugaboo. slow slow going but i pushed through. some of this you may have gotten, but here are my finishing moves:

- IEL on 4 in R10 (working R2L watching R11) dots C38-40R10
- LL black C34R10 and C39R14 and adjacent dots
- 2W the 2nd 1 in C39 to dot C38R9
- IEL on 2 in R12 (watching R11) dots C40R12
- whether C35R11 or C36R11, C35R8 is a dot
- LL black C38R13
- whether C39R11 or C39R12 is black, C38R11 is a dot
- LL nearly to finish
- smile logic to finish

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by gator.

Only correction "- LL black C38R13" should be "- LL black C38R8". Thanks for the solution steps David!

i recently went through the forums and at some point expected a thread with site wishlist items for jan. i did see a few, but they were intermingled in other threads. anyway, my mistake in tracking my steps in this puzzle illustrate my top wishlist item...

not sure how difficult it would be, but i would kill for mouseover text that reports the grid position. so many of my step-tracking mistakes come from the tedium of counting squares.

Tough puzzle.
