Sorry, I edited to #62 as David posted #61 while I was drawing this. You have to have seen the movie to understand this scene.

after initial ll:
el 6 c1 (placed completely in r1-6)
ll
el 6 r1 to dot c28-29, 38
ll
check this out: the farthest to the right that the first pixel of the 6 clue in r7 can extend is c13 and the farthest to the left that the last pixel of the 13 clue in r8 can extend is also c13 but they cant both be in c13 so you can dot r8c1, making r8c14 a black and the square above it a dot
ll (including making r7c8 black)
no matter where the 6 clue goes (to the left or right of c8) the 13 clue can not be anywhere to the left of c8 so you can dot c2-7 of r8
ll to finish
great solve
no guessing

Thanks, bugaboo.

Bug, do you have Gator's job? There was a red question mark on this puzzle, and it disappeared. I was kind of proud of it, 'cause I solve all mine, and knew it didn't belong. After you solved, it disappeared. Additionally, you didn't hazard a guess...

Airplane!?
#6: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Mar 19, 2012

#7: Tom King (sgusa) on Mar 20, 2012
Thanks for the guess, Robin. Incorrect.
#8: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Mar 20, 2012 [SPOILER]
The Money Pit?
#9: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 20, 2012 [SPOILER]
Blast From The Past?
We Are Marshall?
#10: Nancy (nbarsi) on Mar 20, 2012 [SPOILER]
My first guess was the same as Aldege.
#11: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Mar 20, 2012 [SPOILER]
House of Sand and Fog?
Psycho?

I needed Bug's logic to get going with this one. I think I'm losing my touch.
#12: Nickel Odeon (snicklefritz) on Mar 20, 2012 [SPOILER]
World According to Garp? A house that's been pre-disastered.
#13: Tom King (sgusa) on Mar 20, 2012
CONGRATULATIONS, Nickel!!! You are the GRAND PRIZE WINNER of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
#14: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 20, 2012 [HINT]
fun puzzle...liked the level of challenge. aside from line logic, I only used EL on 6 in C1 and EL on 3's in C40.
#15: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Mar 20, 2012
edge logic on the 3s in c40 really didnt seem to work for me without looking too much ahead
im glad you found a way though
#16: Tom King (sgusa) on Mar 20, 2012
I solved it like you did, Bug.
#17: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 20, 2012 [HINT]
i guess it depends on how much look-ahead is too much look ahead...assuming you have already EL to place the 6 in C1 and carried line logic at least far enough to have dots in C40R1,12,13:

- (pure) EL dots C40R2,3

- the bottom two 3's in C40 can't both go in the bottom part (below R13) because they would violate C39, so C40R5,6,9,10 are black

- line logic to finish

accepted

i must have tried it too early but it clearly works how you explained it

either way works (yours was easier but mine seemed a little more cool)

haha

This is the antithesis to the rating problem. It is rated pretty damn difficult for a small puzzle. My theory. Most puzzles that require abstract logic are rated lower in difficulty and quality. I have posted a couple of LLS puzzles that rate higher in difficulty than abstract logic puzzles. I'll see how the latest plays out.
#20: Aydin Z (aydinz) on Mar 3, 2014
very hard puzzle, indeed :)
#21: BlackCat (BlackCat) on May 27, 2018
Had to guess multiple times. Don't get it.
#22: Eric (kelalatir) on Mar 9, 2022 [HINT]
Greet puzzle! A fun solve.

When line and edge logic stop, I used two-way logic, which got me past the difficult parts and let me finish the solve with no guessing.

Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by blurglecruncheon.

I replicated David's findings, so I'll mark this moderate lookahead. Nice image. I always meant to watch the movie.
