Puzzle Description:

GRAND PRIZE WINNER receives ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

#1: Nancy (nbarsi) on Mar 1, 2012 [SPOILER]

Them
#2: Tom King (sgusa) on Mar 2, 2012
Don't know that one, Nancy. Not them...
#3: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Mar 2, 2012 [HINT]
after line logic:
both of the 7 clues in c10 and c12 cant go up into r5 so at least one (or both) must go into r12 (which means they both do and that becomes the 3 clue in r12)
edge logic on the third 3 clue in c1 to dot c13

either c17r5 or c17r6 has to be black AND either c18r5 or c18r6 has to be black AND either c19r5 or c19r6 has to be black and at most 1 of them can be in r6 so two of them are in r5 so c17r5 and c18r5 are black

edge logic on the 2 clue in c8 to dot r4-5
edge logic again on the 3 clue in c1 to dot r14
edge logic on the 1 clue in r15 to dot c1

either c17r18 or c17r19 must be black AND either c18r18 or c18r19 must be black AND either c19r18 or c19r19 must be black and at most 2 of them can go in r18 so at least one of them must go in r19 so c17r19 is black

the 2x3 chunk of black in c17-19r15-16 is part of the third 3 clue in each of those columns and they cant all go up into r14 so at least one of them must go in r17 so c17r18 is black

either c18r12 or c18r13 must be black AND either c19r12 or c19r13 must be black and they must both be in the same row
if they are both in r13 then the 4 clue in r12 can not be placed and therefore c18r12 and c19r12 are black and it solves out with line logic

maybe i made this a lot harder than i needed to but no guessing

Thanks for the notes, Bugaboo! They are awesome. I started with less, and added pixels until I could prove it. You didn't guess the movie?
#5: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Mar 2, 2012
there is a reason for that
#6: Kadou (Kadou) on Mar 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
Network?
#7: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 2, 2012
kadou took my guess :(
#8: Nancy (nbarsi) on Mar 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
Them was one b&w movie about giant ants circa mid to late 50's I believe. One of the first sci-fi movies I ever saw.
#9: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Mar 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
It doesn't look very Social, so I'll go with Network as well. :)
#10: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 2, 2012 [HINT]
hey bug, unless i messed up severely, then you may have made it harder than it needs to be. actually, that's not necessarily true, because in a lot of cases multi-line/advanced logic is easier than some line logic. anyway, here was my process:

- line logic
- C18R7 and C19R7 can't both be black, so C18R10 is black.
- line logic to finish
#11: Kristen Vognild (Kristen) on Mar 2, 2012 [SPOILER]
Tom, Them is an old horror movie about giant ants.
#12: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Mar 2, 2012 [HINT]
I solved it a lot like bugaboo, except to place the 3 in r12, I used summing logic in c2-4 rather than 2-way on the 7s in c10&12.

However, yours does seem to be the most straightforward, David.
#13: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Mar 2, 2012
I lucked out.
#14: Tom King (sgusa) on Mar 2, 2012
Kadou once again is the GRAND PRIZE WINNER of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
#15: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Sep 10, 2017
Not a rewarding image.
#16: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Sep 11, 2017
Found to be solvable with moderate lookahead by infrapinklizzard.
#17: JoDeen Mozena (ozymoe) on Nov 27, 2022 [SPOILER]
Network? I'm confused as to how one derives "Network" from this picture. If it is supposed to be a spider spinning a web as in "net work," it's not a spider because it has only six legs, right? Sigh, I'm really slow in the "Think Department" today. Someone have mercy and explain this one to me. Please?
#18: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Nov 27, 2022 [SPOILER]
It's a wired computer network...sort of diagram style. Each of the five blocky things around the edges is a computer monitor above a keyboard...some sort of a peripheral like a NAS or printer on the left...all hubbed up in the middle :)
