I expected to see the ORLY? owl, but I still got an owl. :D

what's strange aldege is that at one point it was rated a 4 and had one rater...then it changed to 2.5 with one rater. even if they changed their mind, i didn't know that one person could cause a "half" rating, but i'm also not that familiar with the rating process/calulations. usually i don't even look at them.

thanks bugaboo

kristen, ORLY? is the end/answer to the description...this puzzle shows the moment right before the photo was snapped ;)

Re ratings: Because of "imps" trying to skew the ratings, Jan wrote a program to eliminate the highest and lowest scores before averaging, in an attempt to fix the problem, hence the low number of raters (some are not counted). I don't think it's an adequate fix, as the "imps" are still able to mess with the ratings, at least until a larger number of people rate it higher, and then it pretty much fixes itself. It would be best to ignore the ratings for a newer puzzle and wait to see what happens over time. Already the rating for this one has risen considerably.

Fantastic puzzle, David! I enjoyed how it solved, and the image is great.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what O RLY? means? I had to look it up. In case anyone else is curious, here's a link:

I learned this is one of the oldest memes out there. I feel so out of it. :-O

Really nice! I also was ignorant of O RLY, Teresa, although I'm not exactly up on such things anyway. Thanks for the link. Also appreciate the info about ratings. Being pretty new here I haven't felt confident to rate anything, but now I realize it may be important to those of you wonderful people who make these puzzles, perhaps I can contribute in that small way.
