Puzzle Description:

Sort of cartoonish, but tough to make someone semi-recognizable on a 20x

Shel Silverstein?

No guessing on the puzzle; only on the subject. :)
#2: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Feb 7, 2012 [SPOILER]
it is clearly charles dickens
did i know that from the title originally? no
i googled "200th birthday" and charles dickens' name popped up
then i looked back at the title and saw the "cd" and knew it was in fact him

it looks like shakespeare too

i also thought it was aldege but the guy in the puzzle has too much hair and is definitely younger than aldege too
haha

EXCELLENT solve
no guessing

Thanks, Kristen & Bugaboo. I didn't see Shel, but definitely saw Shakespeare or Aldege ;)

I wish i was that good looking, lol. Your right bug,he has more hair and he looks younger than me which is amazing for someone who is 200 yrs old. Great job Tom,nice image.:)

I interpreted it as happy 200th compact disc, so I tried to think of someone with a beard who might possibly be in entertainment. Silverstein was a stretch, I know.

Found to be logically solvable by gator.

Great solve.

Wow. Very challenging but satisfying solve. You really needed to ID him in the description. But otherwise great puzzle. :-)

Bugaboo, you are so funny.

I was, like Kristen, trying to think of someone who might have issued a 200th compact disc. A tiny change to the title would make it clearer "Happy 200th, CD" - adding not even one letter, but just a comma.

Good suggestion, John.

I saw who it was even though it's been a while since his 200th. I liked the solve and the image. I guess I've seen enough book covers with Dickens and his goatee on them it came to mind immediately.
