Puzzle Description:

...she's the one that mentioned mudbugs, that made me think etouffee, that made me think Lousiana, that made me think about mosquitos.

That's evil. Those things are STILL getting in the house and the car, and sucking our blood. Someone forgot to tell them they're supposed to go dormant in the winter.

The 8 in R1 goes from C10-C17. I had to try several spots to get this puzzle started.

well David it's not a 30x25,but it's a great image.Well done.:)
#4: bugaboo (bugaboo) on Dec 13, 2011 [HINT]
fantastic (both image and solve) with no guessing

here is the way i solved this (with only the essential steps included, as i did a few extra edge logic steps which were not helpful or not necessary):

initial line logic gets you very little but the next 3 steps are crucial
1)edge logic on the 8 clue in r1 (to get 8 dots in c1-8)
2)then edge logic on the 15 clue in r2 (to also get 8 dots in c1-8)
3)then edge logic one more time on the 16 clue in r3 (to yet again get 8 dots in c1-8)

now we can see that the 15 clue from r2 and the 16 clue from r3 cant both go in c25 (and they also cant both go into c34-45, 39-43,45-46, or 49, but just focus on c39 for ease of solving)

thus we can see that the 15 and 16 clues have to either both go somewhere to the left of c25 (one of them may include c25), or they have to be staggered (one to the left and one to the right of c25 [one may be in c25]), but they cant both go the the right of c25 because of c39 so you can put black pixels into c3r12-24

(technically, the 15 and 16 clues could both overlap between c26-33 for a brief moment, but no matter which way you extended the 15 and 16, you would get a violation of r3 one move later)

line logic solves the rest until the very bottom left corner where you can use edge logic on the 3 clue in r35 to solve the rest

thanks everyone. my solve was very similar to bugaboo's, but i looked at the R2/3 part in the middle a little differently...basically the same but i didn't watch the movement of the 16.

after bugaboo's first three steps, i did edge logic on the 15 in R2 working right to left.

- the 1's in the row keep it from starting any further right than C46
- then, it can't start right of C36 or it violates R3 by forming a 3 in C36-38R3
- then, it can't start right of C26 or it violates R3 by forming an 8 in C26-33R3
- black C12-23R2

line logic to nearly done then edge like bugaboo

i've always liked puzzles that push you around the puzzle...meaning, work on a spot and it dead ends, but that work opened up something in another area, work on that for a while and it dead ends, but it opened up another area...little chunks that aren't one pixel at a time on larger puzzles. it's like you go back to a part and it says "hi there, while you were away, you learned enough to move a little further here."

this one took some work to even get solvable, but i kind of lucked out with how well it solved during the big line logic chunk in the middle. it only took a little tweaking to get that long solving stretch to work nicely.

...and kristen, i remember all too well ;)
#8: Vaggelis Kamaris (evag7651) on Dec 14, 2011
difficult, but it can been solved by logic alone. Well done.

Found to be logically solvable by gator.

Woo hoo, that was a toughie! But so enjoyable. Fantastic puzzle, David.

Thanks all!

David: my respect! This was an amazing puzzle to try to solve, a nice image and on # 6 you defined women ( at least me) ;-D

Nasty bug! Great puzzle
#15: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Dec 15, 2011
lol jota...can't tell how risque you intended that, but funny nonetheless.

So far!

David, great image. Fun solve too - I agree, when you're forced to move around the puzzle to solve it, it's a treat. Thanks!

Clear image. Tough puzzle. Did guess several times.

Great puzzle. As soon as I saw the backward bending legs, I knew what it was! Great puzzle for following the lines in from the outside. I think it is solveable with line logic. Thanks enjoyed it thoroughly.

I guess it's a Circle of Life thing, David. I remembered solving a nice mosquito puzzle :)

Tough puzzle. I did guess several times in the beginning
