Puzzle Description:

An old fashioned parking meter,when it cost a penny to park for an hour.

Nice! I solved the arrow early on, but by the time I finished I thought "gumball machine" and I'd forgotten about the arrow until I read the description. :)

Same here, except I didn't even look hard enough to realize it was an arrow at the beginning...was thinking it was a kid's head and then gumball machine and even as i completed the one cent i thought it was a gumball machine and then read the description and the arrow, money slot and background car popped out. nice image!

Thx Kristen and David.I can actually remember paying only 1 cent to park in the downtown area of a small city named Thorold Ont,back as late as the 1970's.

I don't think parking was only 1 cent when I started driving - I think it was 10 cents for an hour. In Kingston it only costs 1 dollar an hour which is pretty cheap for a city. Aldege, I once met a girl from Thorold whose name was Susan Duncan. We were at a Heart and Stroke conference in Toronto and everyone was confused. Great puzzle by the way.
