#1: Gator (gator) on Sep 21, 2011 [HINT]

This is just the order that I did things in. It's likely not the most efficient way.

After about 1/3 of the way through with line logic, I used edge logic on the bottom row to make R30C11-R30C14 dots. This let me make R30C25 a black. If we further analyze the clue 6 in row 30, we will see that it can only go in two places: R30C20-R30C25 or R30C25-R30C30. The other places make row 29 invalid (see columns 24-26). In either case looking up to 2 moves ahead, R29C26-R29C29 will be black. More line logic.

Next look at column 30. The 4 clue can go in one of three places, but the lower place will cause column 29 to be invalid, so it has to go in one of the upper places (but we cannot mark the lower place as dots as a 2 clue could go here). 3 cells are common though among those places which we can mark as black: R7C30-R9C30. A little line logic.

I then noticed that if the 6 clue in row 30 is finished to the left instead of the right (it was established above that it can only go in two places), this would cause R30C26-R30C29 to be dots and then R28C26-R28C29 black. This makes row 28 invalid though, so the 6 clue MUST go to the right. A lot more line logic.

Next I used edge logic on the 6 clue in row 21 to make R21C6 a dot. (This didn't really help though.)

I then looked at placing the 6 clue in row 16 at R16C4-R16C9. Looking one move ahead, both R15C4 and R15C9 would have to be black, but this makes row 15 invalid. So R16C4 is a dot. The rest solved with line logic.

Great puzzle!

Found to be logically solvable by gator.

Wow Gator,my head is spinning.lol.Thx for the nice comment and thx for removing the ?.

Cute image and story. But man was that tough to solve. If it weren't for Gator's hints, I would have marked it as needing guessing, because that kind of logic requires looking ahead a bit more than I can hold in my short term memory.

Sorry Teresa,I tried to get it to say solvable by logic alone, but couldn't.

Good, tough puzzle. But I don't see your story. To me, this is a man trying to rob a genie coming out of her bottle. He has two guns aimed at her but I doubt that genies are hurt by bullets anyway. They should pass right through.

My dialog might start: "Okay, you rubbed me the wrong way, but I'll still grant your wishes. Just put away the guns."

That's hilarious Craig, what's going on here is that the car has enormous fins and so does her hair which is why Antonio says "It suits you"

i did mostly what you did gator but in a different order

one difference was that i used two-way logic fairly early on (after line logic) on the 3 clue in c4 extending into c5-6 to show that the 3 clue has to go down into r19
