Puzzle Description:
When my husband was stationed at Moron Air Base, he was impressed by the way the Spanish mark their most dangerous roadways. Every traffic fatality was marked with a white cross; a red cross signified 100 deaths.

"Descansos" is Spanish for "resting place." That is their name for roadside memorial markers.#2: Aldege Cholette (aldege) on Sep 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
Perhaps this isn't the *best* of Spain, but it's a good way to prevent future accidents; if you approach an intersection or sharp curve that's littered with crosses, you'll know to slow down.
Nice image Kristen.Where we live people always put a cross with flowers where ever there has been a tragic accident.#3: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Sep 19, 2011 [SPOILER]
I believe the Spanish government put up the markers, rather than individuals.#4: Teresa K (fasstar) on Sep 19, 2011

When I saw that it was 32x27, I assumed it would be an entry for this WCP. But it's not in your title. If you edit your title so it's official, I'll edit my comment. :-)
Edit: never mind. :-)
Whoops! I forgot :)#6: Claudia (clau_bolson) on Sep 19, 2011

Bugaboo, a big suburb of Buenos Aires is called Moron and no one here laughs. It seems that in ancient Spanish a moron is a little mound
