Why all the blank space around the puzzle?

No reason beyond that the Magic: The Gathering symbols are somewhat square-like in shape. Some of the symbols are wide, but not tall like this one. Even though the space is the not necessary for solving the puzzle, it more conforms to the overall shape. I took away the spaces on the top and bottom, but then it just did not look right to me. So I put it back.

Fun puzzle. I thought it was the Sydney harbour brigde though... :)

Gator -- you mean your puzzle 15310 ( http://webpbn.com/index.cgi?id=15310 ) not Brian's 15130 (although his is good, too.)

It's telling me that I solved an older version and that there are multiple solutions. From what I see, it is unchanged from the original that I solved, and all my pixels fit the clues. Pshaw.

I like the space, glad you put it back. Artistically, it makes sense. And it makes absolutely no difference in the solving experience. Looks like a bridge, which fits the description.

Joe - I edited them all to 15310 now (I think). I also got the "older version" message. I cleared it and resolved it and now it does not do that.

Thanks all!

Aside from the bridge that some people see, I first saw a pair of hands holding a cat's cradle figure.

Enjoyed solving it very much!
