*You should go to the place in your house where the structure is the strongest.*
A small closet with a regular door has a lot of wood surrounding it. If you have no such closet (or it's full of immovable objects), then you should get into a corner. If the ceiling falls in, it'll hit the center but tend to get hung up in the corners.
Also choose a corner away from falling hazards. For instance, in my house I'd have to pick a corner away from my 2 chimneys and out from under the claw-foot tub.
Luckily we don't live in Tornado Alley, and we have a lot of hills around us. (They tend to break up tornadoes). That's no guarantee, however. About 10 years ago we did have a microburst that sounded just like a tornado and did almost as much damage. It took down several trees and broke a lot of the rest. Luckily not much damage to the houses around here, though.
