I love your LLS puzzles. And this one was a great solve, and a nice image.

I find it amusing to figure out why the purple logic breaks down. Sometimes it's because it has difficulties with series of single pixels, but other times it's about the negative space, I think. I'm intrigued about why the program has trouble with that.

If it would examine all possibilities, throw out the ones that cause a contradiction, and then find a cell that is always filled in or always a dot for every valid possibility, then it would be a lot smarter; however, it would be a lot slower too...

Thanks for the comments Liz!

Some hints:
After the initial purple ('L' key) logic (simple line logic), make sure that R42C1, R42C3, and R42C5 are dotted. More simple line logic.

Next make sure to dot around the 2 cells in row 37. More simple line logic.

Next make sure to fill in R39C13 as it has to be either part of the 3 clue or 2 clue. More simple line logic.

Next make sure to fill in R29C5 and R29C10 as these will be either part of the 3 or 2 clues in that row. More simple line logic.

Next make sure that you mark R23C12 and R23C13 as dots. This gets you one more dot.

Now the fun part...
Look carefully at row 24. You have 2 1 3 clues left. The cell at R24C14 has to either be part of the 2 clue or it is the 1 clue. In either case, R24C12 has to be a dot. The rest solves with the simple line logic.

huh? What's that purple arrow all about? I've never seen that before.

Look at post #93 on the News thread (#2).

It shows you where some line solving can be done.

Thanks bugaboo.

this is the first that i have ever heard of the purple arrow...but i can't get it to pop up. i went to a random puzzle with plenty of LLS lines, no dice. filled in some of the them, no dice. tried 'L' (with and without caps) and '?' and various combinations with and without the control key. is this feature down? do i need to turn it on somewhere?

It has been reported that it does not work for some people. There is a thread about it (#210).

David, it could be your browser. I use Google Chrome, which I prefer for game pages like this.

Gator, this puzzle was a lot of fun. Nice image too.

Don't know them. This was a very fun solve with a great image as a reward.
