Puzzle Description:

Soon-to-be Mama Racoon would slide the lid off the deep freezer in the barn (the hinges had rusted off), take the lid off the metal trash can inside the freezer, climb in and eat cat food to her heart's content. Until -- my husband fixed the lid of the freezer.

Raccoons will snarl at you on your own property. I just hide inside.

We had a cat door in B'ham, and one time we found strange, 5-toed footprints by the cats' food bowls, plus the Tupperware cereal containers had been chewed by tiny, sharp teeth. It took us a while to figure out that a raccoon had come inside.

Raccoons are too mart. Three racoons could open my neighbor's screen door. One would climb up to the top and pry the door open enough that the other two could open the door all the way. Then the two would go inside and keep the door open while the other one climbed down. I'm glad we don't have a cat door.

I knew it was raccoon right away, Sarah...nice job. My raccoon story took place when I was still living at my parents. The raccoons would knock over the garbage cans and roll them until the lids would come off. Well the raccoon managed to roll it up the slight incline in our yard. I was leaving for work, late as always, and noticed the can. I swept up the garbage with the lid and put the lid on and not wanting to get my dress dirty, left it there. That night at dinner my father says...geez these raccoons are getting strong. They managed to carry the garbage can up the hill. I didn't say a word...just nodded with everyone else in astonishment. Kept that secret a long time!

My raccoon story is not funny at all. One night I heard a lot of noice coming from the kitchen at the cottage. I came out to find that the raccoons had come right through the screen window and trashed my whole kitchen. I found empty packages from the grandkids snacks all the way to the neighbours. This all took place in a matter of minutes. Obviously there was more than one. My husband fixed them by putting an electric fencer on the aluminum screens. Then I could lay in bed at night and listen to them getting zapped! No more raccoon problem. Good puzzle Sarah

No fun having wild critters in your house. Glad your husband's idea worked. When I was growing up, raccoons tore a hole in the roof of the house and made a home in the attic. It was really difficult to get rid of them.

I've heard of a bug zapper, but never a 'coon zapper!
