Puzzle Description:

Back view of Thomas-cat

#1: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Mar 4, 2011

Thomas had been missing for 4 days. I worried that the pack of feral dogs or a bobcat got him. Thomas came home, wounded and minus a claw. After eating several dinners, he went straight to bed and slept for a day.

very cute: www.simonscat.com

Poor Thomas :( I'm glad his back and safe. I have two cats myself and I know how worried you get when they don't come home.

Beautiful puzzle, so simple and yet so heartwarming =)

Very nice puzzle Sarah.

Thanks for explaining the link, Kristen.
Sorry, Shirlej. I know how rough that is. We've lost quite a few of our outdoor cats; it's always sad. Usually if a cat is gone more than 3 days, they are gone for good. I really did't expect to see Thomas.

for all those who came home... :-)
for those who didn't... here's hoping they simply moved to another home.
this is a great puzzle Sarah. a few lines says it all.

Nicely done, Sarah. I always enjoy your critter stories. This would be an excellent beginners puzzle.

Thanks, Teresa.

I thought it was a whale or a fish at first
#16: Sarah Andrews (sarah) on Jun 1, 2011
you're right, it does have the shape of a whale lol

I agree with everyone. I did especially like this puzzle. We had a stray female cat come here once. She had a couple litters of kittens and definitely made herself at home and then disappeared. We saw her (or think it was her) a few miles from here at a new home. I guess she had the urge to roam quite often.

Many years ago our Jonathan (all black cat) was gone for a full week, but came back and acted as though nothing had happened. I think perhaps he had gotten married and gone on a honeymoon.
These days we have had several coyote sightings in the area, and some very unfortunate events. The best advice is to keep animals indoors, or when outside -- on a leash. But of course, it is impossible to keep a cat indoors!

All of our cats have been indoor cats as we have roads all around our property. And coyotes. And rabid skunks...

Speaking of Simon's Cat, this one came out two weeks ago:

I really like this puzzle. I, too have made a line-portrait of one of my cats sleeping, and it too looks like a whale from the right angle. Maybe I'll try to make it into a puzzle.
