I think they are so graceful. We have a white heron or egret also. He is much friendly than the blue heron. If you see him from the front, he looks like he's only a few inches wide. He stands in the grass, then goes fishing. I still haven't figured out how they land in a tree-- all those long legs, wings and neck. Thanks for the lovely image recalling my morning walk today.
Recognized the juvenile Great Blue at once. I'm absolutely no expert, but I researched it a bit when I was trying to differentiate the juvenile Little Blue from egrets.
