No sports plays for me. I'm missing that gene on my Y chromosome that makes me care about what team has how many wins and losses and who is on the DL or even what a DL is and where it is located. Actually in our family, my wife is the football fan. She is thrilled that her Packers and Lions and Bears (oh my!) are doing so well.

I saw the original Broadway production of this with Kirk Douglas as McMurphy, Gene Wilder as Billy and Ed Ames as the chief.
An autograph hound approached me near the theater and asked me to sign his book. At that time, I was working in the mail room of a book shop but, he said, "But, you're an actor..."
Thirteen years later, the same guy hit me up for another autograph and, when I attempted to deflect him by saying that I wasn't an actor, he said "Yes you are" And he identified the one movie I had been in (for a total of about 30 seconds).
In the film, I was clean-shaven; that night, I had a beard!
I was stunned, but I said, "OK, but you already have my autograph."
He said: "I know, November 1963, outside the Cort Theater."

I honestly can't decide if I am envious or frightened of that man's passion for his hobby.

Wow Robert, that's a great story. :)
If anyone were to recognize me from the one film I was in for about 30 seconds, I'd be frightened! But I was 3 months old in the film. So maybe its okay for you to be envious of that man's passion :)

Fantastic puzzle. Great play.

My son played the part of Billy. His buddies in the audience were laughing at his performance, but he kept a straight face throughout.

Everyone should have a chance to participate in drama. It's so fun. Thanks for all the cool stories.

Teresa, It sounds like your son has the, unfortunately, rare gift of dedication to the play. God bless him.
