excellent solve#2: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2011
no guessing
i used edge logic in several places and then 2-way logic to prove row 10/column 4 was a dot (even though i dont think that actually helped much at all
but what let me finish was edge logic on the 2 in row 19
no guessing for me... i'll think about your idea, Brian#3: Gator (Gator) on Jan 10, 2011 [HINT]
cool beard
bugaboo or Tom - could you detail out all of the advanced technique steps that you took to solve this one? I'm having trouble getting to the end on this one (limitation of 2 step look ahead of course). Thanks!#4: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2011
dang double entry...sorry#5: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2011 [HINT]
Gator... i just solved it again with no problem... i did do edge logic for the top 8, then the rest was easy.#6: Web Paint-By-Number Robot (webpbn) on Jan 10, 2011
Found to be logically solvable by Gator.#7: Gator (Gator) on Jan 10, 2011 [HINT]
Thanks for looking Tom.#8: Jota (jota) on Jan 10, 2011
I just found a two step look ahead contradiction I did not see before. If R4C16 is black, then two steps later row 7 will be invalid. So R4C16 is a dot. The rest solved easily after that.
There was a ppint when I was sure it was Pavarotti! Looking good Brian. Great puzzle!#9: Liz P (lizteach) on Jan 10, 2011 [HINT]
I used some advanced edge logic (or whatever the heck it's called) on the placement of the 5 in column 18 to determine that R5 C17 had to be black (because of the placement of the 4 in C17). After that, it fell into place.#10: Tom O'Connell (sensei69) on Jan 10, 2011
glad i could help Gator :)#11: bengt embrey (bengt) on Jan 10, 2011 [HINT]
I agree, edge logic on the 8 in the top row.#12: Linda Martin (ilovethispuzzle123) on Jan 10, 2011 [SPOILER]

Thank you. I've had the beard since I was 16 back in the mid '70s#14: BlackCat (BlackCat) on Jan 11, 2011
Tough to get details in such a small puzzle. Nice job.#15: Joe (infrapinklizzard) on Jan 11, 2011 [HINT]
After I got stuck (for a long while), I used edge logic on the 2 in r19. R20c4-6 and c8-9 were open and available for the 1 in that row.#16: Susan Duncan (medic25733) on Jan 15, 2011
The left 1s in r18 & 20 had not yet been placed. No matter where the 2 in r19 went, one of the 2s in c4 or 6 must go down into r20, otherwise there would be a block of 2 in r19. That would be the 1 in r20, so r20c8&9 must be white. The rest then solved easily.
Very good puzzle#17: Jane Doe (telly) on Jan 28, 2011
Good job; tough puzzle.#18: Kristen Vognild (kristen) on Feb 19, 2011 [SPOILER]

I never noticed that before.#20: Lena Rohner (lella42) on Apr 10, 2012
Wow this was tricky... I had to guess one time, couldn't do it without. I saved it and tried to continue several times ;) well I'm not that good yet I guess. Very nice puzzle!!#21: Brian Bellis (mootpoint) on Apr 10, 2012
Although it doesn't look just like me, it certainly represents me very well.#22: Kurt Kowalczyk (bahabro) on Oct 29, 2013 [SPOILER]

lol @ 18 and 19.#25: Andrew Schultz (blurglecruncheon) on Jun 15, 2021 [HINT]
This is a cool idea. I'm not brave enough.#26: Jill Tallmer (Yidl) on Jan 7, 2024
A good challenging solve too. I worked on column 3 a bit with some edge-ish logic to get things rolling once the line logic and top/bottom edge logic ran out.
Now I want a beard!#27: David Bouldin (dbouldin) on Feb 21, 2024
I have one you can have Jill :)
