I am pretty sure that also Sinterklaas is a changed version of Saint Niklas (Nicholaus, Nicholas, and so on), since he is celebrated in (almost?) all Europe on 6th of December. He died on this day in three hundred something. He was said to have been taking care of kids, and so the gift bringing story came to life, after his death, when he was proclaimed a saint.
