EXCELLENT !

Those are sea lions, not seals. Nice picture, though.
#4: Jota (Jota) on Nov 10, 2008 [SPOILER]
Sorry to disagree, but I only see a hole as an ear, so definitely a seal!

Hmm. Paul may be right. It seems that most performing "seals" are actually California sea lions. The sleeker shape of this creature is a bit more sea lion like than seal like.

Haha, surprised I didn't make that call. This was before I started commenting though. That's definitely a sea lion.

What about the ears?
#8: Bionerd (nieboo) on Nov 11, 2008 [SPOILER]
he has his head turned so it's dead on, thus you can't see the ear flap from this angle.
Seals can't hold their weight up like that on their flippers. They kinda flop around like a catepillar to move on land. Also the front flippers are longer like a sea lion. Seals have short stubby front flippers.

Thanks! A sea lion it is then.

I love how these comment teach us something

I'm continuously amazed at the things I learn on this site. I never know quite what to expect when I solve and then view the comments. Sit down to do a nice snack size puzzle, which I enjoyed, then I end up learning the difference between seals and sea lions (which I never knew before). Good stuff. :-)

The difference is that the latter are more charged up -- it's the extra ions, y'know.

that was quite funny, gizzard

I wish Jan were still around for me to tell him what a great image this is. I especially like the standing on one flipper.

OOOOHH I thought it was a melting lollipop or a lollipop volcano or a volcano with a bubble of lava.
