Trivia tidbit: McCloud's character is based on the same person that the movie "Cougin's Bluff" was, a real life sheriff from Taos, NM, Arthur "Fasho" Trujillo. He was well acquainted with Dennis Weaver and for many years there was a portrait of Dennis Weaver as "Sam McCloud" at the Kachina Lodge in Taos. Arthur "Fasho" Trujillo dressed exactly the way that Dennis Weaver portrays him.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I'm enjoying this series too. I was such a couch potato back then. I figure even if solvers aren't old enough to remember the original shows, they've probably seen reruns. And everyone likes B&W portraits. The tricky thing is, so many times, they can't be made to be solvable. So it takes some work to get them to the "no guessing" stage without compromising the image.

I always loved this show; it was one of the NBC Mystery Movie line-up. It also had "Columbo" and "McMillan and Wife". McCloud was my favorite because back then there weren't many references to New Mexico in TV shows or movies. As a native of the state we were always excited to hear it mentioned!

Thanks, Teresa, for another nice puzzle.

Until this portrait I had forgotten all about this show, but I did watch it way back when. The one time I spent 10 days in New Mexico I kept having a déja vu feeling that I couldn't shake. Maybe McCloud is the reason why, lol.

He played a part on a little show called Gun Smoke. Chester Goode
