Puzzle Description:

Representation of "Welcome." Literally, "Come in peace."

Most of the time, instead of one symbol to represent one word or one concept, they used one symbol for each phonetic sound. The feather represents the letter i. The feather with walking legs represents ii. Legs can also indicate movement approaching, as it probably does in this case. The owl represents the letter m, the loaf of bread represents the letter t, the tall box represents the letter p. The bar with the diamond on top represents Htp. I'm still trying to figure out what the long drop means.

Do you read it from right to left or from left to right? Most of the time it was written from right to left, but not always. The way to tell is to look at which direction the characters are facing. The main character (person or animal) looks toward the beginning of the line of text. So in this case, the owl is facing left, so we read from left to right.
